You will use your expertise to:

  • Demonstrate dedication and support of our Journey to Zero safety culture by supporting initiatives
  • Perform mechanical engineering design and calculations to address process equipment or unit performance problems with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Prepare scoping studies and design basis memorandums outlining recommendations for improvement by applying applicable engineering standards
  • Lead the management of change (MOC’s) process, replace in kind work (RIK) and support front end scoping definition for capital projects
  • Challenge the status quo within the context of continuous improvement, develop and encourage creative solutions and new ways of thinking that go beyond traditional approaches
  • Act as the contact engineer for all Mechanical work while providing Technical assistance to Cross-Functional Team as required
  • Coordinate special activities to assist operations

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • One or more years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Knowledge of American Petroleum Institute (API) standards and guidelines
  • Eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • The capability to determine potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability
  • Collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships within a group of diverse individuals
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Preference for:

  • Mechanical Engineering design experience and knowledge of Caesar, Bentley Autopipe, PRG FEA tools and codeware etc
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office with a thirst for new data analysis tools

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Sarnia refinery in Ontario, located at 1900 St. Clair Parkway.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Frequent field work is required
  • If you reside outside of Sarnia, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Sarnia is mandatory.
