Job Purpose

The role of Senior Manager, Global Compliance Strategy is responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of the Global Compliance strategic direction.

The incumbent will report to the Director, Global Compliance Strategy and Insights, supporting speed and agility in decision making while managing complex projects and removing barriers to progress across various initiatives in-flight. This role demands strong stakeholder and project management skills, as well as the ability to both plan and execute projects of varying time horizons and scope with minimal guidance. The incumbent will ensure high standards for compliance operations and facilitate cross-functional strategic planning.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Leads strategic initiative planning, analysis, implementation, integration and measurement.
  • Provides solutions/recommendations for complex business initiatives where analysis of situations requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.
  • Executes the operational/business strategy and related activities for Global Compliance.
  • Partners with Compliance managers to design short, medium and long-term goals and operational improvements.
  • Guides and consults with teams during the strategic planning process.
  • Defines analytical frameworks for visioning and assessing strategic options.
  • Translates strategic priorities into actionable game plans and ensures the right KPIs are in place to support the measurement of impact.
  • Remains aware of contemporary concepts in business strategy and management.
  • Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of multiple areas across disciplines to achieve project objectives.
  • Interfaces with the Compliance Senior management to discuss the analysis and results of their work.
  • While there are no direct reports, the incumbent will provide guidance to more junior staff across the team.

 

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • University degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Mathematics is desirable.
  • 5+ years of banking/financial services or consulting experience preferably with a strategy mandate.
  • Experience managing a strategy (preferably regulatory compliance strategy), including providing information and innovative solutions to leadership that promote effective, efficient operations.
  • Experience managing multiple senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with managing large projects, processes integration, or process/control improvement opportunities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a focus on execution, with experience in strategic planning and strong business acumen.
  • Experience with compliance measurement systems, compliance scorecards or other vehicles to report compliance results preferred.
  • Ability to excel in an ambiguous environment and demonstrate empathy while influencing stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in landing executive level communications, combining enterprise-wide objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • An expert user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic business environment.
  • Capable of strong individual contribution and influence across non-direct reporting teams.
  • Other audit, compliance, or privacy professional/industry certifications a plus (CIA, CISA, CISSP, CIPP, etc.) preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset
