Job Description:

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting and Analysis, SLGI Asset Management Inc., the role of Manager of Financial Reporting and Analysis will be responsible for the financial management functions of the investment fund company with specific accountability for financial reporting and analysis,  as well as being accountable for the control environment which includes supporting both external and internal auditors.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the preparation and analysis of the monthly, quarterly and yearly Financial Statements for the Company.
  • Accountable for the SLGI monthly financial reporting package and related analytics and insights on results.
  • Accountable for the preparation of the annual plan and related reporting
  • Responsible for ensuring that monthly sub advisor fees are paid in accordance with the contracts.
  • Responsible for ensuring all month-end and quarter-end reporting is completed on a timely basis. This includes internal SLGI reporting as well as reporting required by Investment Solutions, Canadian Finance and the SLGI Board of Directors.
  • Manage a robust and effective control environment to ensure appropriate controls are in place over accounting and financial reporting processes, including account reconciliations, financial statement line trending, and other data that is included in the quarterly ICFR package.
  • Responsible for all year-end audit requirements, including working with internal and external auditors.
  • Provide direction and leadership for an Intermediate Financial Analyst.
  • Champion and support creative solutions that focus on continuous improvement
  • Project work and ad hoc analysis as required

Requirements:

  • Professional Accounting designation (CPA) with 4-6 years of related industry experience
  • Strong IFRS knowledge, financial analysis, and end user computing development skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills to collaborate with members of the organization across various disciplines
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively while managing multiple tasks. 
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with report writing tools.
  • Excellent PC skills (Role utilizes tools such as MS Office Suite, Oracle, Discoverer/Tableau, and SAP ledger tools)
  • Self-motivated and adaptable.

Assets:

  • Previous work experience in the investment industry.
  • Experience using Oracle and SAP software systems.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
