Reporting to the Senior Manager, Institutional Asset Management (“Senior Manager”), the Analyst, Institutional Asset Data and Systems (“Analyst”) supports transforming Sheridan’s approach to managing its asset knowledge. In collaboration with asset stakeholders, Information Technology (IT), and the Institutional Asset Management (IAM) team, the Analyst will support the successful implementation and development of data, systems, technology solutions, and analytics to support asset management across Sheridan.  The role will provide a proactive, partnership approach that includes business analysis, data management, data science, mathematical/statistical analysis, and systems engineering to meet asset management outcomes in alignment with the goals of Sheridan’s Strategic Plan. The Analyst assists in data governance, policy development and quality assurance for asset data. This will be a key role in supporting the development and continuous improvement of asset management programs across the Institution with the goal of optimizing the value from our assets and providing valuable tools and insights to support decision making. 


What You’ll be Doing

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining Institutional Asset Management databases, software, registers, and geographic information system (GIS);
  • Developing asset data policies, data standards, strategies, plans and processes along with an organizational framework for management of asset data;
  • Collecting, validating, inputting, manipulating, extracting and analyzing asset data;
  • Creating analysis reports and presentations, and delivering ad-hoc analysis;
  • Developing custom applications to support asset management using development tools; 
  • Providing on-going tracking and monitoring of asset data quality and system performance;
  • Developing optimization/prediction and simulation models to solve identified problems;
  • Serving as the project manager for asset management technology projects and implementations;
  • Liaising with vendors to ensure smooth post-implementation support;
  • Acting as a technical lead for asset management technology platforms and solutions;
  • Documenting analysis, methodology, algorithms, results and insights and presenting the rationale of findings; 
  • Documenting current and target asset data management processes, including gathering information; 
  • Preparing and presenting analysis related to data analytics to internal stakeholders;
  • Keeping up-to-date on technology functionality and making recommendations for enhanced business processes;
  • Analyzing, interpreting and providing advice to stakeholders on best practices;
  • Liaising with stakeholders to develop and enhance technical tools and develop work plans to achieve the target state of asset data and systems;
  • Engaging with cross-departmental stakeholders to understand business requirements, prioritize their needs and deliver insights to support decision-making;
  • Ensuring efficient solution design; reviewing and weighing in on solution design from internal stakeholders/vendors;
  • Supporting a cross-departmental asset management team to implement asset management plans and programs;
  • Supporting the establishment of measures and targets for service levels and performance for the Institution’s assets;
  • Supporting the development of budgets and operating within allocated resources;
  • Performing other related duties, as assigned.

You have sound understanding of project management principles and tools, and have the ability to integrate multiple streams of information and prioritize to meet a demanding workload and keep things running smoothly.

You have a keen interest in strategic physical asset management, technology, and data science and are highly proficient in analysis using spreadsheets and coding.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analysis; Asset Management or related field;
  • 5 years of experience in business analysis, IT, database administration, data analytics/machine learning, asset management working with Service Management and Asset Management platforms (equivalency to be considered)
  • Programming experience in one or more of the following; Python, R, VBA, SQL (will be considered an asset)
  • Experience with ServiceNow, Archibus, ERPs and work management systems (will be considered an asset)
  • Training/certification in the following will be considered an asset:
    • Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) or equivalent 
    • Project Management Professional (PMP)
    • ITIL foundation certification
    • Quality Management Certificate
    • Software-specific certifications
