Introduction
As an IBM Application Architect, you directly help clients transform their business  and solve complex problems. You will define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of IBM platforms.  You are a technical leader, serving as a liaison among business partners, technical resources, and project stakeholders.

Your Role and Responsibilities
Our Cloud Architects bring a minimum of 5 years of experience architecting modern cloud services across a broad range of technologies, applying architectural methods to structure complex solution designs in collaboration with our clients’ senior architects. They are expected to structure and facilitate various design meetings and workshops, be the face of IBM to the client, dive into deep technical topics, discuss common architecture patterns and reference models, coordinate to ensure the right technical skills are on the team, and structure requirements, specifications and architectural decisions. They apply deep technology and domain or industry expertise and architecture & design methods to analyze requirements and design appropriate solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Participation in modernization roadmap journey
  • Analyze discovery and analysis outcomes
  • Lead discovery and analysis workshops / playbacks
  • Identification of the applications dependencies, source, and target database incompatibilities
  • Analyze the non-functional requirements (security, HA, RTO/RPO, storage, compute, network, performance bench, etc.)
  • Leads the team to adopt right migrate tools for various migration method for (rehost, refactor, rearchitect, re-platform, containerization etc.)
  • Define database and data migration approach & modernization strategy
  • Defining the best practices, CI/CD process
  • Defining the data virtualization tools & across hybrid multi cloud
  • Preparing the effort estimation, WBS, staffing plan, RACI and RAID log.
The successful candidate will have the following:

Experience:
  • Experience working as an architect for an IT professional services firm or similar background in an IT architecture role in a large enterprise.
  • Broad knowledge of major cloud technologies including virtualization, containers, networking etc. on different cloud platforms and additional knowledge or experience in the areas of IT and/or cloud technology architecture, service management and/or resiliency is a plus
  • Broad subject matter expertise across cloud computing, infrastructure, IT operations, applications, enterprise architecture, data management, and cloud governance models with ability to advise on industry-leading approaches
  • Architecture & design method champion to gather and analyze requirements, design and implement specific solutions. Expert level understanding of conceptual, logical and physical design stages
  • Led detailed design sessions to outline a backlog of implementation tasks managed through an agile process and backlog management including stand-ups, grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Know how to apply consulting techniques (such as issues-based consultant, architecture frameworks and methods) in a range of business/IT solution contexts
  • Understanding of DevOps, Agile, Scrum construct to identify inefficiencies for cloud adoption through readiness assessments and development of strategies and approaches to optimize the implementation of cloud resources and capabilities
Key skills:
  • Broad design expertise across VPC design, IAM definition, OS tuning/configuration, Kubernetes, database tuning/configuration, DevOps toolchains, provisioning automation, service management, operations and security
  • Experience configuring and managing databases, and migration of databases
  • Excellent communication & documentation skills to articulate the solution architecture and roadmap at executive levels
  • Deep understanding of design best practices for at least one cloud provider
  • Certified in one or more cloud platform (RedHat, AWS, Azure, GCP) is required. Multiple certs across two or more cloud ecosystems is a big plus.



Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Min 5 years in the below:

Must possess knowledge of major cloud technologies and service providers, including virtualization, containers, servers, storage, networking, IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure and have experience of guiding clients in defining and adopting architectural decisions across these technologies and platforms. Such experience must also include designing and documenting detailed and implementable architectures on those platforms utilizing established modular reference architectures.
  • Bilingual English and French (verbal and written) for work location in Quebec region


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Additional knowledge or experience in the areas of IT and/or cloud technology strategy, capacity planning, service management and/or resiliency services is a plus.
