JOB OVERVIEW:  Assessment & Testing Services (ATS) On-call Auxiliary pool

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking qualified individuals for its Assessment & Testing Services (ATS) On-call Auxiliary pool. The ATS On-call Auxiliary pool is responsible for invigilating/proctoring various types of exams and tests. Assignments are short-term in nature (2 – 6 hours) and typically take place across five campuses.

Individuals should have a flexible schedule and must be willing to work flexible part-time hours, including evenings and weekends. An ability to work at more than one campus is preferred.

Minimum requirements include the following:

1.    Demonstrated ability and knowledge of exam invigilation procedures.
2.    Demonstrated knowledge of accommodations and access exams.
3.    High standard of spoken and written English; all communication to examinees will be verbal.
4.    Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, such as establishing WIFI connection, logging into software, and dealing with malfunctioning computers.
5.    Demonstrated ability to manage groups of people efficiently.
6.    Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team; to work efficiently under direction.
7.    Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends; punctuality and reliability are key.
8.    Ability to work with information of a sensitive nature and retain confidence.
9.    Demonstrated organization and time-management skills.

Typical ATS invigilation auxiliary work includes:

•    Attend a two-hour orientation and training session (mandatory for all new ATS on-call auxiliaries).
•    Setting out exam papers and stationery, or log in and set up online access to exam prior to the examination.
•    Prepare and set up access equipment for accommodated exams.
•    Read coversheet and immediately seek any needed clarification on the instructions.
•    Ensure a calm and quiet test environment, helping students to organize at the start and end of each exam.
•    Display starting and finishing times for the exams on the boards; monitor timers.
•    Ensure that the conduct of the exam takes place within the guidelines set by KPU and ATS, and also external institutes and organizations.
•    Actively invigilating while not disrupting the candidates is important, providing necessary materials at appropriate times and patrolling examination rooms to insure security.
•    Ensure correct exam procedure is being followed and refer suspected cheating or any irregularity in the examination process to the Coordinator ATS.
•    Deal with interruptions or disturbances efficiently with minimal stress to the examinee.
•    At end of exam, collect all materials; answer booklets, scrap paper, and equipment. Insure student has entered their name and student ID, and has numbered all loose test pages.
•    Open exam packages and highlight procedures or important steps to prepare for future exams.
•    Prepare and tidy exam room for next exam session.
•    Complete exam cover sheet with exam summary detailing any incidents that may have occurred (eg. Interruptions from external sources, student interruptions for drinks or washroom breaks, issues on clarity of questions).
