Do you want to work side by side with the best broadcasters and help shape the daily editorial vision of Newstalk 1010?  Working in collaboration with the Program Director of NewsTalk1010, we are looking for a news minded, highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills who understands what makes great content and, most importantly, what matters to Toronto.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop overall editorial strategy to deliver the most compelling content for all of Newstalk 1010’s programming
  • Be responsible for staff development and training of all editorial and technical staff
  • Coordinate and lead the editorial team with breaking news and special event coverage
  • Ensure each show is delivering its content to all platforms, including on-demand and social media
  • Coordinate news gathering and content requirements in conjunction with CTV News and other Bell Media platforms
  • Identify and collaborate on revenue generating content ideas with the Programming and Sales team

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Journalism, communications or equivalent and at least 5 years’ experience in a newsroom
  • Excellent knowledge of local news and current affairs.
  • Proven sound editorial judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to originate coverage on developing news stories and features
  • A track record for outstanding, concise communication and direct coaching skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Forward thinking, a creative and open-minded problem solver with experience maximizing the best use of the company’s resources
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Strong team leader with effective people and motivational skills and a demonstrated record of success supervising staff
  • Excellent knowledge of local news and current affairs.

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
