Purpose

 

The Associate, Business Controls (Dynamic Funds), will manage the review and tracking of requests from the Dynamic Sales Team while ensuring all requests are in accordance with section 5 of National Instrument 81-105 as well as within policies and guidelines outlined in the Dynamic Funds Sales Practices Policy. The Associate will be a subject matter expert for all policies and provide professional and timely support to the Dynamic Funds group in the processing of these requests. They will also assist the Senior Associate with additional tasks and with Compliance oversight functions within Asset Management, ensuring that domestic and international day-to-day business activities are compliant with all external regulators and aligned with internal risk policies.
 

The Associate is expected to perform the various position duties independently under general direction from the Manager and Senior Manager, Business Controls (Dynamic Funds). In their execution, they are expected to act independently within approved project guidelines and within department and Bank policy. The Associate contributes to the overall success of the Business Controls team, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

  • Perform day to day Business Control activities supporting the Business line
  • Review and track donation and sponsorship requests
  • Manage the Centralized Office of Ticket Management which involves pre-approval, ticket purchasing, ticket disbursement, tracking, and post approval
  • Leverage existing tools and new tools for efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain and update excel sheet used for tracking ticket purchases and assignment
  • Use Oracle on Demand to record and track requests
  • Communicate with the Dynamic Sales team to gather and collect missing documents and follow up on requests
  • Provide support to the Senior Associate in reviewing invoices for event reconciliation
  • Manage the Dynamic Promo Store for review and process of orders
  • Complete expense reviews to ensure all spending is within policy limits as per NI81-105 section 5.6
  •  Ad-hoc duties as assigned
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day- to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

 

 

Education / Experience

  • University degree
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis in MS Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills to co-ordinate and prioritize several concurrent projects
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate a positive and effective working environment at all levels of the organization
  • Proven track record of meeting deliverables
  • Ability to work as both a team member and independently with general oversight
  • Highly motivated, independent and results-oriented attitude
  • Experience with CRM and Business intelligence tools an asset.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry an asset.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Security Commission regulatory requirements around National Instrument 81-102, National Instrument 81-105, National Instrument 81-107, and National Instrument 62-103, the Investment Advisors Act; Investment Companies Act and the Volcker Rule is an asset.
