The Global Securities Funding (GSF) team of National Bank of Canada (NBC) is looking for an Associate/Associate Director to assist in the pricing, risk management, and booking of Funding products. 

GSF is an integrated business model connecting securities finance, repo and delta one products and activities in one team.  Working closely with Treasury of NBC, GSF looks to optimize the banks position with regards to use and availability of equity and fixed income collateral.  To achieve its intended goals, GSF has members in Toronto, Montreal, New York, London, and Hong Kong.

Your role:

  • Laisse with Treasury risk to validate the weekly production of Financial Market (FM) regulatory metrics.
  • Laisse with Regulatory teams to identify the differences between FM Calculated Leverage and the final Leverage calculation.
  • Work with Accounting to identify the differences between FM Calculated and Accounting balance sheet.
  • Optimize the collateral usage across Financial markets to maximize returns, while maintaining adequate liquidity.
  • Assist in the management of US Treasury repo transactions, Securities Lending Upgrades/Downgrades and Equity Repo
  • Monitor PnL reconciliation of the Funding Desk
  • Assist with calculation/booking of FM Funds Transfer Pricing
  • Support achievement of the Bank's vision, values, goals and culture in personal behavior, actions and decision making.

 

Competencies required:  

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance or a related field, with a strong understanding of finance
  • CFA an asset
  • Minimum of one year of applicable capital market experience
  • A strong proficiency in SQL
  • Demonstrated problem-solving mindset, collaborative approach, and great team spirit.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
  •  English (spoken, written)

Preferred competencies:

  • Understanding of Balance Sheet, Leverage Ratio, Liquidity and funding, Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), Net Cumulative Cash Flow (NCCF) and Net Stable Funding Ration (NSFR)
  • Product knowledge in trading in FX Arbitrage, Secured and unsecured funding products.
