Position Summary...

The Manager, Ecommerce Strategic Initiatives role sits within Walmart Canada’s (WMC) Ecommerce team, partnering with cross-functional Ecommerce executives in setting & driving the Ecommerce strategic agenda. This role involves collaborating with Ecommerce leaders across the entire organization to drive the Ecommerce 5-year roadmap forward as well as top-priority Ecommerce strategic projects. This role ensures all Ecommerce priorities in the Ecommerce strategic roadmap are well designed and governed to achieve desired performance against WMC’s Ecommerce financial and strategic objectives. This role is an agent of change, helping to shape WMC’s exciting and transformative Ecommerce business. This is a high-visibility role that requires exceptional stakeholder engagement and critical thinking skills; there are significant independent responsibilities and excellent prospects for career growth.

What you'll do...

• Support the Director, Ecommerce Strategic Initiatives in the seamless execution of 1-2 of the key strategic Ecommerce cross-functional projects (e.g., Shop my Store)
• Support the Director, Ecommerce Strategic Initiatives to ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the Ecommerce team
• Provide exceptional program/project management support of the long-range Ecommerce strategic roadmap & planning process as well as corporate governance approach
• Partner with senior leaders to ensure the most critical initiatives are prioritized and resourced for success to deliver on our Ecommerce strategic aspirations (incl. taking on a position of ‘activist’ project support at times)
• Collaborate with several active project teams to ensure work is designed and executed to deliver on Objectives and Key Results targets (incl. supporting monitoring/tracking against milestones, metrics, deliverables, decisions, customer/associate outcomes, budget expenditure, etc.)
• Ensure a best-in-class process & governance is followed by the organization to achieve desired outcomes from projects; identify & escalate issues as needed
• Develop a deep understanding of active/backlog sprints and longer-term efforts in the Ecommerce roadmap, to help executive leadership and project teams manage key interdependencies, risks, sequencing, staffing, budgeting and other major program trade-offs
• Take on ownership of select workstreams in active strategic ‘project/program’ sprints, as needed
• Support the Ecommerce case for change through compelling collateral
• Build client-ready, compelling content for senior executive sessions related to our strategic Ecommerce objectives and milestones
• Maintain a deep understanding of the overall Ecommerce strategic aspirations
• Be a transformation ambassador and drive adoption and implementation of new ways of working
• Support culture building & role modeling for the transformation office to cascade through the org
• Help project leaders implement new ways of working (e.g. adopting new tools/apps)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Operational Research, Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, Technology, or related fields); MBA preferred

  • 3 to 5 years; previous corporate transformation / mgmt. consulting / retail experience considered an asset

  • Exceptional PPT, storytelling, and communication skills (incl. facilitation in remote/virtual models)

  • Experience building & validating compelling (XLS) models and business cases

  • Knowledge of Canadian/International retail and adjacent sectors

  • Problem solver with ability to prioritize effectively

  • Independent self-starter; owner’s / servant leader’s mindset

  • Passionate about the ongoing transformations/innovations unfolding in the domestic and global Ecommerce sector
