SUMMARY

The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for the effective operations of the cleaning service through planning, quality control and management all cleaners.   Supervisor is to set high standards for cleaning and to ensure those standards are maintained and achieve our customer Standard by the most economical use of materials, equipment and manpower.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES


Clean and Safe Environment

  • Ensure a clean, safe, sanitized and pleasant environment.
  • Consult with BGIS Operations Management on a regular basis, regarding the condition of the building.
  • Make independent decisions for the day-to-day cleaning services.
  • Supervise all aspects of cleaning to provide an atmosphere conductive to the comfort of the all BGIS staff and its clients.
  • Manage and keep inventory of operating equipment and supplies.
  • Carry out daily quality assurance inspections.
  • Set priorities in scheduling of project duties for Cleaning Staff.

 

Staff Supervision

  • Ensure that employees are trained in and monitored for the use of safe work practices, use of personal protective equipment, and demonstrate safe behavior .
  • Make decisions in matters of employment, training, discipline, termination of staff under his jurisdiction and report to Operations Management.
  • Control activities of all cleaners by selecting, supervising, training, motivating and developing personnel to achieve competence within the cleaning responsibilities.
  • Conduct Monthly staff and training meetings.
  • Record staff absenteeism and sickness.
  • Inform Operations Management of his/her designate in the event of own absence.

 

Inventory Management

  • Analyze needs and recommend supplies and equipment.
  • Analyze trends in equipment, materials and methods and recommend changes when these would benefit the client.
  • Prepare the requisition of supplies and materials in advance.

 

Reporting and Special Projects

  • Consult with Operations Management for specific projects and work orders and follow up on special project work.
  • Complete payroll forms, variance records, cost control reports and supplies cost reports.
  • Prepare Daily, Weekly & Monthly reports for Operations Management of BGIS Cleaning Services.

 

  • Other duties as required

 

The quality of work will be monitored against the following KPIs:  

  1. Quality of Service to determine how well you are doing at delivering an acceptable appearance level that are set in the SOPs. Quality of Service will be monitored regularly by quality audits by location/ teams (identifying if a particular location/ item need improvement)
  1. Client Satisfaction and Responsiveness measures how happy the customer is with your staff and their work. Will be monitored through results of client surveys, number of special requests submitted vs. completed, number of client compliments and number of client complaints and their disposition
  2. Cleaners team effectiveness KPIs - h elp clients see that your team is professional, reliable, and does quality work by tracking: productivity ( identifying production rates  of square footage cleaned per hour; cost per cleaned area; area cleaned per full-time janitorial wor ker), turnover/ absenteeism.
  3. Janitorial Safety KPIs – how much you are committed to making buildings safe for all occupants. This will be monitored through number of training hours on Health and Safety procedures, number of near misses, number of lost workdays due to work-related
  4. Financial KPIs - evaluating the cost vs budget, overall cost of cleaning (cost per cleanable square foot), electricity savings
  5. Health and Sustainability KPI's - how cleaning is affecting the health of their buildings. The areas of interest are:

a. ATP levels on different surfaces measured using a luminometer

b. Dust levels in the air, using a device like a TSI particle instrument

c. Average daily attendance numbers

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Post-Secondary degree preferred
  • Strong language proficiency in English, both written and verbal
  • 3-5 years or more of cleaning experience and 2-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience and familiarity with WHMIS, Provincial Safety statutes and basic employment obligations
  • Ability to organize and manage work programs
  • Flexible and willing attitude to working hours as overtime, nights and weekend on a rotation basis.
  • Ability to walk consistently through an 8 -10-hour shift inspecting building premises for quality of work
  • Ability to occasionally lift of approximately 22-25 kg (supplies, equipment) and / or push/pull of up to 20 kg (janitorial carts/scrubbers)
