Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications, you are an experienced writer and communications professional with expertise in financial services. You will focus primarily on external, client-facing communications initiatives, as well as communications to client-facing staff (advisors, regional management and support teams) to ensure they are aligned to the corporate vision. 
This role is also responsible for supporting an environment (culture) that allows for intentional, clear and coordinated communication with and between all internal stakeholders (including executives, leadership teams, employees and counterparts at Scotia Global Wealth Management) for the purpose of effectively executing the MD strategy.

As a Communications Manager, you will:
•    Develop and manage highly integrated, enterprise level communications, ensuring alignment of key messaging to all audiences so the organization’s vision is clearly understood, and that strategic plans and business practices are consistent with the vision 
•    Lead communications for key projects in support of corporate strategies and programs, with a specific focus on projects/campaigns that support MD’s investment Product and Multi-Asset Management teams; this could also include regulatory initiatives and ad hoc and planned programs that strengthen MD’s reputation and deliver the best client experience possible.
•    Work strategically with:
o    The Product team to develop and execute unified programs related to the delivery of products, programs and services to existing clients, as well as supporting the development and launch of new products.
o    The Multi-Asset Management team to provide ongoing communications support and advice to help Advisors and employees understand the team’s approach and investment positioning (including talking points for MD Advisors regarding economic and investment topics such as inflation).
o    Content and Marketing colleagues to build integrated programs, leveraging your exceptional writing and editing skills across all channels (print, face-to-face, web, digital, voice) and will ensure the ongoing delivery of high-quality communications.
•    Lead the development and execution of internal communications to support our client facing staff so that they can have exceptional conversations with their clients.
•    Contribute to the ongoing development of the corporate communications strategy and policies.


Competency Requirements:
•    You are an outstanding communicator with strong language/writing skills, and a knack for taking complex information and simplifying it for consumption by advisors and investors
•    You demonstrate attention to detail and quality: communication, messaging, writing, presentation
•    You are a self-starter, with the ability to navigate a large organization and can appreciate the need to deal with multiple stakeholders
•    You understand the value of collaboration and teamwork, engaging key stakeholders and peers with a healthy respect for diversity of thought

Education & Experience:
•    Post-secondary degree or diploma and demonstrated experience in Communications
•    Bilingualism (English/French) preferred
•    Eight plus years of financial communications experience with a demonstrated portfolio of work in the financial services industry.
•    Expert understanding of the financial services, investment and wealth management industry
•    Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage, monitor and evolve complex projects and programs and changing priorities
•    Proven experience in client facing and internal communications, as well as managing and delivering sensitive communications requests is essential to meet the demands of this position
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Demonstrated knowledge of communications and content strategy and execution of best practices. 
•    Knowledge of physicians/medical profession and/or Canadian Health Care environment an asset
•    Completion of financial industry courses an asset (e.g., Canadian Securities Course)
•    Able to evaluate the impact of external and internal factors on corporate reputation. 

Effort & Working Conditions:
•    You will work in a remote/flex environment
•    Occasional travel might be required
