SUMMARY 

The Electrical Design Engineer will be a member of the professional services team and provide electrical engineering and design to assist the architectural, mechanical and electrical project deliverables.  The electrical design engineer will work on various projects within a versatile team where all abilities are put to good use. 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Engineering Consulting

  • Support the professional services group from project initiation to completion by providing equipment selections, cost and timing, estimates, reports, design specifications and drawings for building electrical systems including power distribution, connection to utilities, lighting, controls, emergency power, life-safety systems, fire alarms and renewable power generation and storage.

Design

  • Conduct research into the feasibility and provide design, operation and performance of building electrical systems including power distribution, connection to utilities, lighting, controls, emergency power, life-safety systems, fire alarms and renewable power generation and storage.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, architects, facility management and technicians to develop detailed design related to various architectural, HVAC and electrical projects.
  • Electrical design to support tenant fit up and mechanical equipment upgrades.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Minimum Four (4) years experience in electrical design/engineering.
  • Familiar with Electrical Codes and the Provincial Building Codes.
  • Experience in engineering consulting.
  • Strong understanding of the engineering environment in electrical sector.
  • Highly meticulous nature, strong attention to detail.
  • Engineering and construction of building and site electrical, power, lighting and life safety systems (fire alarm, etc).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work on several projects concurrently.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both official languages considered an asset.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other employees.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Prior customer interface experience.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with computer Tools.
  • Knowledge of building mechanical systems would be an asset.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Ontario Professional Engineer (P.Eng. PEO) would be an asset.
  • Engineering license in other provinces would be an asset.
  • Driver’s license.
