The Industrial Relations Manager reports to the JFJV Deputy Construction Director and is responsible for providing management, support, guidance and counsel in all industrial relations queries on the project.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Observes provincial and national construction labour market trends, and makes recommendations to help ensure the project can be properly staffed.
• Provides project management with recommendations in response to company, subcontractor, client requests concerning labour relation issues.
• Assist Subcontractors in researching and preparing documentation for grievance cases and arbitrations.
• Guides company and subcontractors when involved in labour disturbances.
• Supports subcontractors in collective bargaining with unions representing employees.
• Represents the company in dealings with government agencies.
• Plans and supports programs to promote cooperation and coordination between subcontractors and the unions.
• Obtains factual information concerning subcontractor/management inquiries and suggestions and/or complaints.
• Advises management, subcontractors, and union officials in development, application, and interpretation of labour relation policies and practices.
• Prepares statistical reports, using records of actions taken concerning subcontractor grievances, arbitration, and mediation cases, and related labour relations activities, to identify problem areas.
• Develops plans, procedures, and rules to ensure industrial relations harmony on the project.
