Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the enterprise Conduct Risk Program ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

  •  Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge;
  •  Developing strategies for effective data analysis and reporting to support the Risk Culture & Conduct Risk
  • Management Framework and programs;
  •  Identifying, configuring and implementing analytics solutions for conduct risk monitoring and reporting which will also include risk assessment analysis for trends and themes (e.g. CRCA, Global Issue Management, RCSA).
  • Contribute by interpreting data to provide insights and actionable outcomes to improve the conduct risk monitoring & insights;
  •  Identifying, analyzing new and existing metrics and relevant data sources including working with internal bank stakeholders. Includes extracting data and reports from multiple sources (e.g. operations, Global Compliance, customer & employee feedback surveys) into actionable business insights;
  • Identify and implement analytics solutions to improve operational efficiencies;
  • Develop and produce detailed monthly, quarterly and/or annual conduct risk management reports, as required;
  • Reviewing data/results for reasonability and accuracy. Includes drafting recommendations;
  • Assisting and back-up support for the Sr Manager, Conduct Risk Insights & Reporting for the preparation of the quarterly Conduct Risk Report for ACRC/Board and Risk Culture & Conduct Risk Steering Committee includes report submission documents and briefing notes for management review;
  • Assisting with data extraction and analysis for ad hoc reporting requests as required;
  • Developing and supporting with analytical models/mining data;
  • Contributing and supporting in the preparation of presentations, as needed;
  • Keep abreast of industry and regulatory trends and emerging issues related to conduct risk metrics and monitoring;
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions;
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education/Experience 

  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Management or a related field
  • At minimum 5 years of proven experience as an Analytics Manager or Data Scientist
  • Solid experience in data analysis and reporting; financial services experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of Excel, R and SQL; familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, SAS)
  • Superb communication skills
  • Analytical skills and strong organizational abilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem-solving aptitude
