The Role

We are currently searching for a Manager, Loss Prevention leading the loss prevention team, reporting to the Vice President, Legal. This is a Full-Time Permanent opportunity supporting both The Beer Store and Brewers Distributor Ltd.

 

Location: This is a hybrid/remote flex work position. The Manager, Loss Prevention will coordinate on-site loss prevention and security support at the corporate office in Bolton, ON. This role will require some occasional travel across Canada to sites depending on the loss prevention issue that arises. For this role you are required to have a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle and must comply with all company health and safety policies and vaccination policies when visiting company sites.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Reviews and evaluates TBS/BDL risk management systems and controls and provides findings and recommendations to Senior Management
  • Develops, implements and maintains programs, policies and procedures that relate to all aspects of loss prevention, including security and insurance, to protect the employees, customers, assets and reputation of the company.
  • This role encompasses internal control, forensic accounting, financial interpretation, risk evaluation, security equipment expertise and expertise, management of guard services, as well as 24-hour, 7 day per week management of all loss prevention matters at all locations of TBS/BDL , including timely support on urgent / emergency risk management / mitigation matter s.
  • Responsible for managing the insurance portfolio for TBS/BDL; includes dispatching emergency response vendors, monitoring of third-party insurance adjusters performance, claims management by fulfilling the role of Claims Examiner, managing and being accountable for the Insurance Trust Account
  • Insurance premium management via risk assessment and risk reduction strategies. Responsible for overseeing the insurance renewal process, and periodic RFPs
  • Fulfill the role of “Coordinator” for the Crisis Management Team
  • Manage all aspects of internal investigations and direct the investigative team to ensure that appropriate action is taken whenever a breach of trust or breach of security occurs
  • Manage the relationship between TBS/BDL and our insurance Broker, our third party adjusting firm,and our insurance companies.
  • Manage and approve actions of third-party insurance administrators acting as liaison between the field and third party insurance adjusters, monitoring costs and results
  • Manage and approve deployment and maintenance of security equipment, guard service providers, monitoring costs and results
  • Manage the security equipment layout, specifications and quotations for new buildings, and their subsequent deployment
  • Manage the development and administration of the TBS / BDL Capital and AOP Security Budget
  • Reporting and analysis on insurance incident history and trends
  • Provide advice and recommendations for process improvements to improve efficiencies, risk assessment, management and mitigation, cash handling, asset protection, including goodwill and reputation, shrink management, integrity issues
  • Contingency planning, field training and risk communication, updating and maintaining field security manuals
  • Participation on the TBS “Shrink Committee”, which meets monthly to monitor and manage total company shrink and share best practices re loss prevention.
  • Acting as Chief Privacy Officer for TBS / BDL, management of privacy legislation requirements, investigating and management of human rights complaints.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned

 

Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Private Investigator certification and valid PI license
  • 10 years Loss Prevention management experience
  • University degree or College Diploma
  • Ability to define a process, break it down into its parts, identify key control points and improve the process to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Ability to manage, direct and counsel people during crisis situations
  • Working knowledge of legislation pertaining to criminal law and civil law
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • In depth knowledge of Company Policies, Guidelines, and Procedures for Corporate, Retail and Logistics Operations in a unionized work environment
  • Working knowledge of computer concepts, specifically word processing, spreadsheets and data base programs (i.e. Excel /Word / PowerPoint)
  • Expert knowledge of various security equipment used to secure BDL / TBS employees and assets
  • Working knowledge of the insurance industry and experience with insurance claims management
  • Prior experience (internal or external) in business management, including supervision of a team
  • Ability to provide support to TBS/BDL on a 24/7 basis
