Your Opportunity

We are currently looking for a project engineer to join our Project Delivery Energy team in the Calgary office. As a Project Engineer, you will work with close supervision and direction on small and mid-sized projects under the guidance of the Project Manager.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and ensure that customer expectations are met or exceeded
  • Establish and maintain positive internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Development of DBM, scoping documents, framing documents, etc.
  • Support development of engineering services hours estimates, project cost estimates and schedules
  • Support management of project costs, schedule, and quality
  • Support proactive change/risk management processes
  • Act as single point technical interface for the project and provide advice and guidance to the engineering disciplines.
  • Customer communication and status reporting
  • Coordination of key meetings or review points: scope review, engineering/design review, P&ID review, controls review, HAZOP, construction review, construction kick-off, etc. and following all action items through to completion.
  • Ensure procurement packages are produced in accordance with project cost, schedule, and quality requirements
  • Review of project documentation (specifications, PFD/P&ID drawings, designs, line/tie-in/equipment lists etc.) prior to issue for accuracy, completeness and presentation
  • Coordinate construction support activities and regulatory submissions

Qualifications

  • Strong technical background
  • Sound problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication (written and oral) skills
  • Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask, in both capacities of handling multiple jobs/projects, and be able to carry out multiple tasks and scalability within each project
  • Genuine team player who will encourage teamwork with the project team and with other discipline staff
  • High level of initiative and ability to complete tasks on schedule and budget
  • Willingness to go the ‘extra mile’ to support projects, customers and fellow employees
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve design issues
  • Ability to challenge specifications and non-optimal designs and provide value added alternatives
  • Focused on continuous improvement
  • Focused on providing quality services to the customers in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of project management principles and processes
  • Experience supporting gas compression and/or oil sands projects through to construction. Project experience within energy transition; including bio-industrial, carbon capture, and hydrogen project experience is considered an asset.
  • Field experience is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (B31.3, Z662, AER Directives, OH&S, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel on occasion (1-to-3-day trips per month)

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 7years of experience with an engineering contractor or energy producer
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with APEGA
