With the improved outlook for the Mining and Metals (M&M) sector, Fluor Vancouver has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team.

Fluor M&M is a leader in the study, engineering, and execution of M&M projects world-wide. Our Vancouver office have designed and constructed marquee projects in locations across the world. We work with multiple major, and many emerging, mining companies, generally with a copper or gold focus. Our team is leading the market with efficient designs and developing new ways of adopting the many innovative technologies emerging in our sector, redefining the project delivery model for the next wave of major world projects. We currently have projects in British Columbia, USA, Russia, Greece, Argentina and Chile.

You would be responsible for the delivery of all work to Fluor's high safety and quality standards, meeting or improving on cost, schedule and project defined milestones. You could lead small to large-sized, or portions of, mega-sized FS, EPC or EPCM projects. You bring skills, aptitude, and experience for direct responsibility of teams of two hundred (200) or more persons. We look forward to welcoming an energetic contributor to our vibrant office.

You would be responsible for activities including:
• Establishing and managing project safety plan and ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) is emphasized throughout all phases of the project;
• Developing a complete understanding of the prime contract and any relevant subcontracts in order to ensure execution of all aspects of the project in accordance with contractual obligations, Fluor’s Operating System Requirements (OSR) and the relevant Operating System Implementation Plan (OSIP);
• Ensuring full compliance with Fluor prime contract with regard to client reporting, notifications, project system start up and close-out requirements;
• Providing strong, effective and decisive project leadership and establish an execution framework to ensure the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and profitability of the total project execution (engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM), commissioning, start up, and operations as appropriate to Fluor project scope);
• Establishing the project baseline, and ensure that it is fully documented, updated throughout all project phases, and appropriately communicated to Fluor project team, including preparation of scope of facilities and services, cost estimate, schedule, and execution plan;
• Delivering the project in accordance with the project execution and commercial baselines, meeting the as-sold profitability target established in the project commercial baseline, and ensuring project leads communicate specific contents with relevant project team members;
• Establishing and defining the project organization, define the project staffing requirements, and coordinate staffing with supporting organization managers;
• Establishing and maintaining effective client relations that result in active cooperation, prompt payment, and the desire to award follow-on work;
• Establishing good work environment and work relationship among Fluor project team members, guide team’s work implementation on aligned and consistent goal and path;
• Implementing and maintaining operationally consistent work processes that enable work-sharing to be effectively executed among multiple offices and construction sites;
• Managing and controlling the project’s cost and schedule by ensuring that effective project controls are in place and functioning properly, including establishing a project structure (work breakdown structure/network/network activity), a quantitative approach to planning, reporting, and control, and a change management system;
• Ensuring effective and timely coordination among design, procurement, material management, construction, commissioning, and maintenance teams for integration of technical content and schedule activities;
• Supporting the implementation of automated work processes and tools on the project to the fullest extent practical, consistent with adding value and establishing an efficient and cost-effective project environment;
• Keeping supervisor and senior operations management of the business line fully informed on project status, including client relations, project cost and schedule, changes in risk assessment, anticipated changes in project financial performance, and any other major concerns;
• Reviewing, organizing, and sharing relevant lessons learned from other projects and seek advice from other experienced managers as necessary throughout the life of the project;
• Collaborating within sales, operations, and technical teams pursuing prospective projects to develop win strategies, including project execution and commercial strategies;
• Providing Leadership to large teams, this may include incentive programs, solving interpersonal conflicts, selecting the right person for the particular tasks and acting on signs of work overload;
• Mentoring Fluor personnel;
• Typically managing personnel and providing an environment for the development and professional advancement of staff members, including on-the-job and formal training and development opportunities, and timely performance feedback;
• Analyzing situations, identifying and forecasting pertinent problems, and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement appropriate course of action;
• Organizing and prioritizing a variety of complex projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines;
• Maintaining compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards;
• May need to travel to attend to business related matters;
• Meeting expectations on attendance and punctuality;
• Other duties as assigned.
