SUMMARY

The Project Manager Schedule Control oversees and maintains project delivery schedules and supports risk management planning functions at a project level integrating all aspects of the project execution. Prepare project schedule reports by integrating information from the Prime Consultant, Contractor or Construction Manager as well as internal stakeholders. Projects are typically of moderate complexity, risk and exposure.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

For the assigned projects:

  • Supervise the Scheduling aspect of the project to enforce quality, accuracy and completeness of the project schedule, by Prime Consultant and Contractor. At this level, projects managed are typically of moderate to high complexity, risk and exposure.
  • Create and maintain dashboard report using Database of projects within the scheduling platform.
  • Integrate to the project schedule other streams of work that are being undertaken by BGIS and that do no fall within the Prime Consultant or Contractor scope of work which are part of the project delivery. Report to Director as required.
  • Perform Schedule integrity tests on a continuous basis for both internal and external schedules.
  • Provide expertise in planning and monitoring progress to ensure the schedule reflects the actual delivery sequence in both Design and Construction stages.
  • Analyze and include outstanding contract requirements and deliverables to ensure the Prime Consultant and Contractors schedules meets the Client and Brookfield’s expectations.
  • Support the preparation and regular updating of risk register and cost reports by BGIS project team, Prime Consultant and Contractor.
  • Conduct project schedule audits in a regular way to ensure schedules from Consultant and Contractor are meeting BGIS expectations, are built following industry standards and the project milestones are on target. Conducts and provides critical path analysis and identify risks on the project schedule.
  • Assists in schedule coordination efforts with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Development and maintenance of project schedules for specific scopes of work for BGIS using scheduling software.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting project metrics to project team, Directors and other stakeholders.
  • Identify problems or conflicts in the project schedule and assist project team in effectively managing a resolution in conjunction with Project Director.
  • Identify Negative trends and poor performance using physical observation of progress and schedule data provided by the Prime Consultant(s) and Contractors.
  • Propose solutions to recover schedule slippages and to prevent cost overruns.
  • Implement Project Controls procedures with the Project Team and enforce those with Prime Consultant and Contractors following BGISMCP guidelines in relation to Schedule and Cost.
  • Support the Director in the reporting of projects controls information. Schedule status, cost performance, variance analysis, risks identification.
  • Identify Design changes and/or Owner’s request that can impact the project’s schedule and budget and implement jointly with the project team mitigation strategies to minimize its impact.
  • Assist Project Director in identification of project risks and develops and implements mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Communicates project status to relevant stakeholders.
  • Set up Claims avoidance methodology at a project level to ensure workflow of production is maintained at all possible times. Communicate to Project Director about potential exposure to risks and recommend mitigation strategies to prevent Claims.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with clients, consultants, vendors and team members.

 MINIMUM EDUCATION: University graduation or professional certification (e.g. P. Eng, PMI-SP, PSP, or equivalent courses)

JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: More than three years up to five years

Knowledge & Skills

  • Construction or Engineering related degree/diploma and minimum three (3) years of construction scheduling experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience; required
  • 3 to 5 years of project management work experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Critical path method, Practice Standard for Scheduling and understanding of complex building sequence.
  • Experience in planning and scheduling of multi-phased projects of high complexity with emphasis in Base Building and Fit up implementation.
  • Project management – proven ability and experience in delivering projects on-time, on-budget, within specifications and in-compliant with all requirements including but not limited to regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Project Budget management – proven ability to create cash flow reports from existing budgets.
  • Project risk mitigation and management – proven ability and experience in identifying, mitigating and managing project risks.
  • Communication – strong communication, influence, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
  • Relationship building – proven ability and experience in building and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Client management – proven ability and experience in managing client relationships and expectations.
  • Client service orientation – strong client service orientation.
  • Project team leadership – proven ability and experience in project team leadership
  • Vendor management – proven ability and experience in managing vendor performance.
  • Quality – possesses a continuous improvement and quality mindset along with a desire to continuously seek and incorporate best practices and technologies in order to optimize program delivery and deliver value to the client
  • Computer proficiency – proficient in and experience with MS Office suite of applications along with proven ability to quickly learn new applications.
  • Advanced user of scheduling software (Primavera and MS Project) and the ability to train users on best practices. 

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
One or more of the following would be considered an asset:

  • Project Management Institute Accreditation (PMP, PMI-SP), AACE PSP or in progress.
  • P. Eng. or Engineer in training.
  • Preferably Bilingual (English/French) but not mandatory.
