Job Description:

Do you breathe technology and communication and believe in making an impact on peoples’ financial security? Join our Digital Services team at Sun Life Financial! Use your rich talent and experience to shape our industry-leading communications program, online or offline, specifically geared towards employees in workplace retirement and savings plans across Canada.

Please note this is a 6 month contract.

What will you do?

The Senior Marketing Communications Specialist will be a key member of the Client Experience Office - Group Retirement Services, Digital Services team. They will:   

  • Dive into Sun Life’s back-end systems to perform thorough plan assessments
  • Identify secure site and print content requiring drafting to address plan uniqueness
  • Write clear, compelling and effective marketing copy in plain language, for both digital and print  channels
  • Lead, create, and execute communications initiatives, designed to educate and empower plan members to remain engaged in their workplace pension and savings plans
  • Oversee the production, distribution and completion of all assigned communications
  • Utilize project management methodologies and tools to ensure successful and timely execution
  • Collaborate with internal teams (such as Client Relationship Executives, Member Education and Implementation) and external clients
  • Work with Digital Publishers, Graphic Designers and Campaign Specialists/Managers to brainstorm and develop solutions that are on strategy and reflect our brand’s personality
  • Publish and test content via Content Management Systems

What do you need to succeed?

  • You’re passionate about and have experience in digital spaces
  • You’re passionate about and have experience in integrated marketing communications
  • You can identify distinct audiences, write messaging for each and recommend appropriate delivery tactics
  • You’re comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, using your proven project management skills to maintain scope, timelines and budget
  • You’re comfortable in a consultative environment and working with multiple stakeholders across the organization, at all levels
  • You’re detail-oriented, ensuring that marketing collateral accurately reflects Sun Life’s tone and style, clearly balanced with the needs and objectives of the client
  • You’re creative and enjoy collaborating with publishers, designers, translation, print, etc.
  • You have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rich relationships with business partners and external clients
  • You have a keen eye for identifying process improvements and implementing best practices
  • You’re open to feedback and self-development

What else are we looking for?

  • Experience within the financial services/insurance industry
  • Graphic Design experience is strongly preferred
  • A post-secondary education in Communications, English or Journalism, Technology or equivalent
  • Experience in progressive copywriting and editing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Project management skills
  • Sun Life’s back-end system knowledge is a significant asset (Global, global.com, etc.)
  • Experience in Content Management Systems is a strongly preferred
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is a strongly preferred

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
