Our Calgary Digital & IT group is growing and we are seeking four Solution Designers to support our Point of Sale (POS) technology for Suncor’s Retail operations. If you want to be a critical part of our dynamic IT Solution Delivery & Operations team in a fast paced, evolving operating environment, then we are looking for you!

In this role you will design, deliver, and operate the Applications that support the payment processing functions, within our Retail operating environment.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Oversee day to day technical support requirements for payment processing at retail locations
  • Address system Improvements to enhance reliability and depth of Suncor’s proprietary Retail Payment applications interfacing with the Point of Sale (POS).
  • Implement changes and bug fixes to Quality Assurance and Production environments
  • Assist in design, architecture and implementation of robust and cost effective solutions to meet business demands
  • Guide and mentor team members in all technical aspects

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • A post-secondary education
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • C/C++ programming
    • Unix/Linux
    • Database programming
    • Oracle Databases
    • PL/SQL and Pro C programming
    • Systems design and architecture
    • MS Windows OS systems
    • Programming best practices
  • Business acumen in various areas of retail, payment, settlement and reconciliation processes
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Working experience in Agile/ADEM/ and/or DEVops
  • Knowledge of Cloud Network and Infrastructure concepts (AWS and Azure)
  • Experience with EFT payments (Debit / Credit Transactions and formats with ISO8583 preferred)

Preference for:

  • Familiarity with security concepts and cryptography
  • Previous exposure to IST Switch software (Oasis, eFunds), Oracle Forms
  • Understanding of Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or Datadog
  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
