We have three opportunities for Summer Students (Storeman) to join our Electricity Operations, Supply Chain team for up to three months in Edmonton, AB. One of the Students will begin in May and the other two will begin in June.                                                              

What you’d be responsible for

 

In the Storeman role, you will be supporting Warehousing and Inventory operations and will be responsible for managing EPCOR’s inventory.  Supporting and answerable to the Warehousing Manager your main accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring on-going collaborative relationships are maintained with other team members across EPCOR and delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics.
  • Performing the following job duties:
    • Maintaining cycle count accuracy
    • Receiving and/or returning materials
    • Monitoring stock and restocking levels
    • Picking up, delivering and shipping materials
  • Conducting physical counts (inventory) of materials.
  • Ensuring materials are issued and transferred properly - scrap materials are recycled in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.
  • Coordinating and ensuring the proper clean-up of environmental spills.
  • Creating requisitions and receiving them against purchase orders.
  • Receiving, storing, picking, shipping, and counting inventory

What’s required to be successful

Qualifications, experience and behaviours the successful candidate will possess and demonstrated in your resume and/or cover letter are:

  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education).
  • One year (or more) of warehousing or related experience.
  • Demonstrable understanding basic Materials Management Practices.
  • Proven high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Office, Excel, Outlook).
  • Possession of a valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License with 6 or fewer demerits. Ability to qualify for and maintain a valid EPCOR driver's permit.
    • A 5 year Commercial  Drivers Abstract will be required at the time of hire.
    • Successful candidates may be required to use their own vehicle for business related purposes. Reimbursement for these expenses will occur in accordance with EPCOR's Vehicle Allowance Policy
  • Able to meet the physical demands required of this position, which will include physical strength and dexterity to perform medium to heavy work and frequent lifting of materials weighing up to fifty pounds. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
  • The ability to use hand tools and ladders in accordance with EPCOR safety standards.
  • Strong consideration will be given to applicants that have:
    • Transportation of Dangerous Goods experience
    • WHMIS Certificate
    • Construction Safety Training System Certificate
    • Experience operating a forklift to load and unload materials (valid tickets/certificates will be preferred).
    • Previous experience using ERP systems (Oracle or related software)

Along with the qualifications (skills and behaviours) listed above you have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to build rapport quickly and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders across multiple locations. You consistently take initiative and demonstrate great attention to detail and strong organizational skills when completing tasks. Additionally, you are a team-oriented individual who demonstrates great initiative when responding to customer and co-worker requests, and shows excellent customer responsiveness when doing so.

Note: Successful candidates may be required to use their own vehicle for business related purposes. Reimbursement for these expenses will occur in accordance with EPCOR's Vehicle Allowance Policy.

Starting Wage $27.22 per hour - wage will be determined at the time of selection and is based on a combination of factors as outlined in the CA that may be found online)

Hours of work: 8.0 hours per day; 40.0 per week
