We perform geotechnical studies to solve pressing infrastructure and construction rehabilitation issues. Sometimes, we break new ground with our ideas. Your Opportunity

Stantec provides an exceptional opportunity to learn through practical experience, expert supervision and on-the-job training. Based out of our Edmonton, AB location, we are looking for Civil or Geological Engineering students for a 3 month period from May to July.

Your Key Responsibilities

Students will be introduced to a wide variety of geotechnical consulting activities, including:

• geotechnical and/or materials testing fieldwork including but not limited to compaction testing, and construction quality control / quality assurance.
• project Coordination activities supporting the Project Manager on a wide variety of projects.
• supporting our in-house geotechnical lab technologist in day-to-day testing and reporting activities
• project data management tasks
• supporting technical staff on reporting activities
• exposure to various software programs and applications.
• interpersonal skill enhancement working in a collaborative environment.
• gain experience dealing with day-to-day responsibilities in a challenging work environment.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Must have valid driver's license available to complete field reviews.
• Applicants should be energetic team players with appropriate academic qualifications.

Education and Experience

• Experience is preferred however undergraduates with at least one year in a Civil Engineering Degree/Diploma program are encouraged to apply.
• Applicants must be registered in an accredited, post-secondary institute

Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Some time will be spent in a typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.

Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
