Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of college grounds and working on a variety of maintenance projects. The incumbent will be expected to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, operate tools and equipment and contribute to a positive and safe work environment at all times. 

Start date: May 2022

End date: August 2022

Location: On-site, Red Deer

Job Duties

Landscaper duties include:

  • Maintaining college grounds
  • Working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Mowing lawns, planting, weeding, watering and pruning plants as directed
  • Controlling insects and disease as directed
  • Picking up litter
  • Contributing to a positive and safe work environment at all times
  • Installing items with power tools
  • Painting and completing other minor maintenance projects as requested

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong work ethic, attendance record and productivity in an independent work environment (demonstrated through previous employment or volunteer experience)
  • Strong customer service, teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to perform basic labouring activities, including heavy lifting and exert frequent physical effort

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ride-on mower experience is an asset
  • Experience with power tools, gas powered mowers, tiller, electric clippers, edgers and weed trims is preferred
