Your Opportunity

Our GTA Transportation Team is currently seeking a Transportation Engineering - Project Engineer to join our team of project managers, technical staff, and multi-discipline specialists in the completion of Transit, Rail, and road and projects. You will help lead/support a team of professionals in the design and construction of medium/large scale projects in transit-based sector. The projects will be in various phases from conceptual planning, through design, construction, including a focus on Technical Advisory (TA) services related works.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working on a highly skilled team for Technical Advisory (TA) related services on large transit related assignments.
  • Support the management of multiple projects. Managing the approved scope, budget and schedule are of utmost importance.
  • Support in the development and management of the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Engage regularly with key clients to discuss current projects and evaluate firm performance, as well as identify other business opportunities either with current clients or through referrals, focusing on business development efforts and strategic pursuits.
  • Supporting the team lead in the leadership and development of a team of engineers and technologists, providing mentorship to other staff.
  • Responsible for the review and, if P.Eng. certified, sealing of projects.
  • Supervises the work of other engineers.
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
  • Responsible for supporting invoicing, managing, and monitoring financial performance of project budgets using PM dashboard access.
  • Performs on technically complex projects and acts as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members.
  • Liaise with clients, agencies, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals.
  • Stays up to date on regulatory changes and may establish working relationships with regulatory officials. May write and negotiate proposals as project issues arise with clients or reviewing agencies.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
  • Participating in marketing efforts, and business development pursuits, including lead development, proposal preparation, presentations, relationship management and client surveys.
  • Lead/Chair meetings with stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining positive and professional relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, competitor/teaming partners, and potential recruits.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as good relationship building skills with respect to your interactions with team members, clients, and contractors
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word and Excel is required
  • Experience with AutoCad, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads and other design software will be considered an asset
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines while work independently
  • A strong work ethic with the desire to excel and to achieve
  • Willingness to learn and a motivated team player

Education and Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent experience including experience in delivery of project in the Technical Advisory (TA) services role. Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent degree. Civil Engineering Technology diploma or university degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or approved equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Registered Member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario PEO or with The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians
  • Project Management Professional Designation PMP is an asset
