Day in the Life:

The Director, Retail Logistics leads all transportation including: Domestic Transportation, International Transportation, Freight Auditing and TP&E Systems Support. Spearheading the shared logistics services, the incumbent delivers the end-to-end strategic design, implementation, and operations of HB’s logistics, enabling cost-effective and performance-driven transportation network. The Director, Retail Logistics provides hands-on leadership, vision and direction in all logistics related matters to various cross-functional areas and actively participates in executive-level meetings across HB acting as a subject matter expert. The Director, Retail Logistics leads the development of business cases for capital projects and new initiatives, liaises with all areas of the business to move forward long-term strategic projects, as well as promoting a culture that attracts, retains, and develops cross-functional team members that will become key resources needed to implement HB’s future state logistics network. The incumbent partners closely with the Logistics lead on The Bay digital business side.

What You Will Do:

Domestic Transportation Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day leadership of the operations and strategic functions of the division.
  • Oversee outbound common carrier transportation for 87 stores nationwide
  • Spearhead Inbound operations inclusive of airfreight, rail, intermodal courier, LTL and TL
  • Oversee all third party XDC centers across  (FTL/LTL/rail/small parcel), third party cross docks and inbound fleet operations inclusive of reverse logistics transportation and Major Home Fashion transportation operations inclusive of home deliveries.
  • Responsible for creating budgets and reporting weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually on financial performance and forecasts.

International Transportation (TL, LTL, Ocean & Air Imports)

  • Oversee Inbound operations including, offshore origin operations and all ancillary inbound transportation modes inclusive of airfreight, container-loads, intermodal, TL and LTL
  • Ensure freight invoice auditing
  • Ongoingly work with MP&A leads to reduce transportation cost impact to GP/COGS by implementing advanced transportation services and regular RFPs
  • Oversee and produce a reports, alerts and recommendations to track carrier performance
  • Partner with Global Sourcing and Owned Brands to ensure profitable flow of product

Major Home Fashion Home Delivery

  • Oversee all third-party cross docks and inbound operations inclusive of reverse logistics transportation and home delivery for the Major Home Fashion business

Transformation Project Management and RFPs

  • Collaborate with internal teams of cross-functional departments within logistics, merchandising, planning, global sourcing, stores operations, finance and IS to support and establish strategic objectives.
  • Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working with the business units and other shared service teams to resolve them
  • Responsible for developing business cases for capital projects, drive effective decision making and managing of cross functional initiatives as the functional lead for the shared service
  • Drive and execute implementation of profit-improvement ideas, cost-reduction initiatives and operational efficiency solutions
  • Partner with external executives and functional department managers of both merchandise and logistics vendors to optimize end-to-end transportation and supply chain flow
  • Provide direction to the executive suite and business partners to resolve key tactical, strategic sourcing, operational, and flow issues.

What You Will Need:

  • MBA, university degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration/Commerce or Industrial Engineering
  • Demonstrated senior leadership and decision making in fast paced, consumer driven environments
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in logistics management, transportation, operations leadership, preferably in a high volume, retail or direct-to-consumer industry
  • Demonstrated progressive senior leadership of cross functional teams, team development and decision making in fast paced, consumer driven environments
  • Results driven personality with a successful track record planning, executing, and achieving large scale RFP
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret extensive data to develop and implement appropriate solutions
  • Active in partnering with senior business partners and presenting recommendations in a persuasive, professional and impactful way to drive supply chain development
  • Strong project management skills, including development of timelines, communication of project status, and ability to move projects from concept strategy development through tactical implementation and execution
  • Pronounced business acumen and problem-solving skills, analytical and creative thinker, adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change
  • E-commerce and/or Omni-Channel-Trade background preferred
