Storeroom Clerk (Part-Time)

The Opportunity

The Kitchen at Banff Centre is looking for a Storeroom Clerk to assist the Storeroom Lead Hand in assessing and maintaining proper inventory levels and to be responsible for the receiving, storing, rotating, and issuing of food and kitchen supplies across the various food and beverage outlets on campus.   

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Sous Chef, below are some key accountabilities: 

  • Receive shipped goods; checking items received against order sheets and invoices; noting discrepancies or deficiencies and notifying the supplier and the Executive Chef; returning goods to the supplier as needed, with required paperwork
  • Issue supplies to all kitchens and food and beverage outlets and move items from the storage areas and coolers to the kitchens for daily food preparation
  • Assist with monthly (or as-needed) inventory counts
  • Assist the Lead Hand in ensuring stock is rotated on a timely basis 
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the Storeroom, coolers and freezers, loading dock, and other work areas throughout and at the end of the shift
  • Assist with some peeling of vegetables as needed, as directed by the supervising Chef

Qualifications and Educational Requirements 

  • Previous experience in shipping and receiving and inventory assessment and control is an asset
  • Good knowledge of foods, fruits, and vegetables; previous experience working in a kitchen and knowledge of safe food handling is a definite asset
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel and online ordering systems
  • Self-starter, clean, efficient, and punctual
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Pleasant disposition and strong interpersonal and communication skills

Special Requirements

  • Candidates must be physically capable of safely lifting and carrying items up to 30 kg
  • To be considered, candidates must live in the Bow Valley.  This position is not eligible for staff housing.

Employment Terms & Benefits

  • In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probationary period.
  • This position pays $16.03 per hour working up to 24 hours per week. The successful candidate would ideally be available to work Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 7:00am to 3:30pm MST.
