LOCATION: Calgary, Alberta (CA-AB)
JOB NUMBER: 69622

Why you should join us:

Come join the team that builds and maintains the Petro-Canada retail and wholesale network across Canada!  This new role provides a unique and exciting opportunity to be involved in the setup and execution of our project controls processes and tools, in a way that aligns with the rest of the enterprise and SAP S4 changes.  We want your independent judgement and problem solving to support the project teams to develop plans throughout the project lifecycle, then combine and optimize them in a portfolio schedule.

The Asset Management team is part of the Downstream Sales & Marketing business.  We deliver 450-500 economic and sustaining projects yearly to build and maintain the Petro-Canada retail and wholesale network across Canada.  Typically, Asset Management projects are high volume, low/moderate complexity, and typically run through a 6 month to 3 year timeframe.

Asset Management is a tight group that works closely together and with our stakeholders, to ensure we keep people moving towards what matters most to them.  We plan our national network to ensure we know the best places to put sites and then our teams design and build those sites.  Once those sites are up and running, our team makes sure they are maintained and offer Canadians the level of service that they have come to expect from the Petro Canada brand.  Our team also makes sure our portfolio of properties is maximizing it's potential and manages its environmental risk.

As a Project Controls Scheduler within the Project Delivery part of the Asset Management (AM) organization, you will be accountable for individual schedule creation and maintenance, and the overall portfolio schedule optimization and management.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Collaborate with the Integrated Team Lead and team members to plan and schedule activities for the ADEM and Small-Gated projects within the Asset Management portfolio
  • Work with Project Leads to establish project baselines, capture schedule changes, report variances, and collect variance explanations for stewardship
  • Support Project Leads to track lead times and forecasted delivery dates for Suncor purchased equipment in the integrated schedule.
  • Track progress and prepare monthly progress KPIs reports comparing it with baselines
  • Collaborate and work closely with the rest of Project Controls team
  • Integrate all project schedules into a portfolio view to support project resourcing assignment, level load project execution timeframes, and identify/mitigate risks
  • Partner with our AM Capital Portfolio Advisor, Development Leads, Maintenance Planner, and Network Planners on the portfolio stewardship and optimization.  Plus, contribute to budget plans (1-3yrs) for the entire portfolio. (i.e. This role is not limited to day-to-day operational scheduling activities and has a component of strategy planning at the portfolio level.)
  • Ensure Suncor ADEM (Asset Development and Execution Model) is followed for project schedules to drive quality, manage risks, and ensure integration.

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Strong initiative and are eager to learn, while being comfortable working through ambiguity to solve problems
  • Solid understanding of contractual and milestone deliverables for projects (Project stages, EPC Schedule delivery, procurement, construction, turnover, etc.)
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity
