Job Description:

Develops test strategies, test plans, and test cases for various types of testing including functional, integration, intersystem, platform etc. across lines of business.   Coaches or mentors other testers on business, application or system knowledge and testing processes.   Identifies and implements process improvements.

What Will You Do?

• Reviews business requirements and evaluates document based on accuracy and completeness.  Logs defects and ensures document is updated appropriately.
• Contributes to the identification and assessment of risks and exposures for applications.   Uses Application Risk Assessment as input into all testing activities.
• Participates in design reviews and has a basic understanding of application and system designs.
• Defines test strategy and is able to identify an efficient testing approach.
• Leads and coordinates the testing activities for projects including assigning work to onsite and offshore resources.
• Develops and maintains test plans (including identifying test situations/scenarios) for complex projects.
• Prepares and maintains detailed test schedules.
• Participates or provides project estimates and resource requirements.
• Defines test tools and processes on projects.
• Designs and creates test case documentation including test situations, data setup, execution steps and expected results.
• Familiar with test automation.
• Participates in plans to improve and maintain test environments.
• Creates and maintains regression models.
• Assists with execution of test cases for various types of testing including function, conversion, integration, intersystem, platform, parallel, stress, or regression.
• Ensures project is set up correctly in ALM and manages defect resolution.
• Ensures Changepoint standard tasks are set up correctly for each project.
• Prepares test status reports and maintains good communication with Project Manager and project team.
• Escalates issues when appropriate.
• Obtains sign-off from Business Sponsor for the appropriate test documentation including test plan and test report.
• Coach/Mentor for other testers involved in the testing activities both onsite and offshore.
• Monitors effectiveness of test activities and recommends areas for process improvement.
• Participates in strategic initiatives.
• Able to work flexible hours and weekends as required.
• Participates in lessons learned.
• Provides input into the development plan of others through effective and appropriate feedback.
• Designs and implements a self-development plan.

What Do You Need To Succeed?

• 1-5 years of experience in IT Testing or Development role
• Uses structured testing techniques and approach to test activities
• Knowledge of Database technologies for both distributed and mainframe environments and asset
• Knowledge of Web, Salesforce and Mobile an asset
• Knowledge of Kanban approach to project life-cycle would be an advantage
• Experience with agile methodology
• Familiarity with Application Programming Interface (API) testing
• Experience with Tosca an asset
• Experience building comprehensive functional and regression test plans, scenarios and cases
• Has knowledge of automated tools and how to implement within test activities
• Demonstrates the ability to be a leader and an agent for change
• Demonstrates the ability to negotiate, manage conflict and manage risk
• Reliable, consistent, flexible and adaptable
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Strong Team player

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
