Job Description:

The incumbent provides technical expertise and performs a variety of tasks necessary to support Dental Programs.  Duties will include the responsibility for individualized assistance to students, administering tests and skills assessments, assisting in evaluations, planning and conducting skill demonstrations.  Consults with the Lab Technologist to ensure that sufficient inventories are available for student assignments.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Two (2) year Diploma or equivalent, Diploma/Degree in related field of study for specific program and/or possess relevant trade certification/licencing;

  • Registered Dental Hygienist in good standing with College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO) with authorization to self-initiate;

  • Minimum of 3 years recent work experience in a dental practice environment;

  • Experience and proficiency with electronic medical record software(s), preferably with Sapphire/ClearDent;

  • Experience with digital x-ray procedures;

  • Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act (HARP) Certified;

  • Holds a current certificate in CPR-C/HCP and First Aid;

  • Proof of completion of the Public Health of Ontario IPAC Core Competencies and Reprocessing modules;

  • Training in adult educational theory and methodology preferred;

  • Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills;

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
