Position Summary...

The purpose of this role is to lead and be accountable for all centralized planning, design and implementation of the strategic commercial planning process.

This role leads all commercial event cross-functional teams with all merchandising and support functions including, but not limited to Merchants, Space, Replenishment, Finance, Marketing, Central Operations, and Field Operations in support of driving business results through collaboration, and influencing at all levels in the organization.

This role has three key focuses:
1. Lead and drive end-to-end strategy and planning for key events and partner with senior merchandising leads to build execution plans in support all Major/Minor/Growth events.
Key events examples include but are not limited to:
• Spring Set to Easter
• Ethnic – CNY, Ramadan/Eid & Diwali
• eComm only events – Singles Day,
• BTS & BTC
• Fall/Winter set to Thanksgiving & Halloween
• Black Friday, Christmas & Boxing Day

2. Support the Commercial Planning Strategy agenda, decisions making, actions and follow-up. Key accountabilities include: defining, planning, executing and finalizing strategic planning workstream components of ‘L2 Plan & Buy’ (Scorecard, Buy Plans, Walk-Throughs, and timely hand-offs to ‘L2 Move & Stock’ group) within planned deadlines and budget, ensuring all work is aligned with strategic objectives and goals.

3. Accountable for working with the cross-functional teams to organize working sessions, to build develop and create the FY Omni commercialization calendar with a 12-month rolling view.

What you'll do...

1.     Lead Strategy, Planning and Execution plans for E2E Merchandising Commercial Events across all channels – 90 to 360 days out. This includes leading and facilitating across 8 SBUs for ALL Omni Commercial Events on the following touchpoints:
a.     Review of high level scorecard and key events COEs
b.     Align on key event guiding principles for next year
c.   Lead Omni strategic build for each event
c.     Develop presentation of proposed strategy
d.     Presentation of completed buy plan
e.     Omni customer walk through including online and in-store experience
e.    Lead agility/contingency planning for all events and update leadership as required
f.     Build Omni postmortem reporting by aligning key KPIs with cross functional teams

2.     Accountable for Commercial Planning Strategy (Level 2 Meeting). Meeting attendees include: CMO, COO, Merchant SVPs, Marketing, Finance and Central Ops.   Meeting has the following focuses:
a.     Annual Planning Forum for Merchandising / Replenishment
                                  i.    Merchandise support focus
                                 ii.    Annual BU plans
                                iii.    Cross-functional business plans
b.     E2E Merchandising Program Overviews
                                  i.    Merchandise focused and led
                                 ii.    Key events
                                iii.    90-360 days out
c.     Commercial Innovation / Projects
                                  i.    CapEx allocation
                                 ii.    Business cases
                                iii.    Floor and layout changes
                                iv.    Test N Learn
3.     Corporate/SBU Promotional Space Allocation – Facilitate decision making on allocation of Corporate Promotional Space for commercial events:  Comp Rails, all Hot Spots, all Check Out, Front Seasonal End Caps. In addition, work cross functionally to align the Front Seasonal Pod category allocation and adjacencies for each event, in accordance with seasonal themes. 
4.     Omni Integration for all Commercial Events – Accountable for ensuring all events have a consistent Omni experience for customers online and in-store. Own the integration process of merchants’ assortment with site merchandising and partner with cross-functional teams such as marketing to ensure a consistent, cohesive Omni experience for the customer.
5.     Influence - gain consensus and alignment with SVP’s in merchandising and cross-functional partners on events planning, in accordance with business strategies. 
6.     Accountable for leading all Omni event workstreams concurrently – setting objectives, managing priorities, milestones, plan/manage meetings with stakeholders with a cross-functional lens.
7.     Work with the cross-functional ‘L2 Commercialization’ team to develop strategy, organize working sessions, agendas, issuance of action items, follow-ups, and any required logistics. Support the business owner and team members in maintaining list of required activities and follow-ups. This may include scheduling, organizing and maintaining meeting minutes, action logs, etc.  Supports business owner in meeting content preparation.
8.     Accountable for designing, developing and improving Omni Commercial Strategic Planning processes through constant reinvigoration and innovation. Proactively work to improve entire end-to-end strategy and develop new ways of working where needed.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in a related field required, MBA preferred

• Minimum 7 years' experience in commodity buying

• Seasoned leader with minimum 5 years' management experience

• Strong merchandise background with effective program and project management skills

• Excellent planning, communication, and influence capability

• Influencing at senior leadership level

• Experience managing large scale organizational change

• Proven capability in building and executing business-wide strategy

• Strong analytical capability to review and assess long term impacts and benefits of activities, ability to prioritize the most effective deliverables
