The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking assessors with experience in Aerospace Quality Management Systems on a contractual basis.

SCC’s Aerospace Quality Management System scheme allows management system certification bodies to be accredited to ISO/IEC 17021-1 to perform certification to AS9100, AS9110 and AS9120. Assessors with expertise in these standards and with advanced auditing experience play an essential role on our assessment teams.
SCC’s customers provide a wide variety of certification services for management systems, as well as in other sectors. Applicants with knowledge of multiple management system schemes or experience in other areas of accreditation are preferred.
Key Activities
• Work closely with SCC personnel to determine the scope and criteria to be assessed
• Conduct interviews as part of a team, or independently, to assess the competence of personnel
• Review records to assess evidence of conformity to applicable criteria
• Observe the work of personnel to assess the conformity to procedures and application of relevant criteria
• Report to the Lead Assessor on findings and provide recommendations based on evidence
Essential Qualifications


Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident/work visa for the duration of the contract

Language Requirements
Various: bilingual imperative, French imperative, English imperative

Skills
• Highly developed auditing practices
• Strong technical, analytical and review skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Sound judgement and evaluation abilities
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, both within an assessment team and with customers
• Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, and familiar with information and communication technology (e.g. web-based communications software); comfortable conducting remote assessments

Abilities
• Work with limited supervision
• Effectively represent SCC and follow SCC’s policies and procedures
• Meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
• Availability to travel within Canada and the United States, occasionally on short notice
• Ability to work in a variety of environments

Required Technical Knowledge

• Sufficient experience in the aviation, space and defense sector to understand International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) sector-specific terminology, processes, practices, and product requirements needed to review and interpret the outputs of certification bodies operating the Aviation, Space, and Defense Industry Controlled Other Party (ICOP) scheme
• Understanding of the ICOP aerospace quality management system scheme
• At least two years of relevant experience related to management systems certification in the aerospace sector
• Understanding of ISO 9001 and AS9101 standard requirements
• Understanding of the Aerospace Quality Management System (AQMS) standard AS9100
• Understanding of the ICOP resolutions published in the Online Aerospace Supplier Information System (IAQG-OASIS) in the ICOP Resolutions Log

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Technical Knowledge
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
• Understanding of the application of all AS 9104-series standards (AS9104/1; AS9104/2; AS9104/3)
• Understanding of the implementation of AS9104/1 and AS9104/2
• Understanding of ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015, AS9110 and AS9120
• Understanding of SCC’s other Management System Accreditation Program schemes
• Formal training or extensive experience conducting quality management system audits
