Job Description:

Sun Life Technology Services Project Management Office (TS PMO) is looking for an individual who can perform and lead teams as a Scrum Master/Senior Project Manager.  In this role the individual initiate, plan, manage, deploy, coach and/or influence leading technology solutions and/or medium scale and medium to high complexity that are high-quality, innovative, efficient, creative, scalable, adaptable, dynamic, fully performing and comply with all standards and best practices in support of business and Client outcomes and objectives.

Works independently and applies industry leading delivery effectiveness skills, tools, practices, and techniques to all deliverables. Demonstrates leading understanding of delivery effectiveness concepts such as: frameworks & concepts (ex: agile, scrum, Kanban), organizing, planning, coaching, servant leading, facilitating, estimating, negotiating, problem solving, managing risk, managing conflict, communicating, and focused on continuously learning more about these domains and continuously honing their craft. Ability to focus on task at hand, follow-through on prescribed plan with ability to be flexible and think under pressure while. Highly motivated team player with a strong desire to learn, grow, and continuously improve.

What will you do?

• Initiate, plan, manage, deploy, coach and/or influence leading technology solutions and/or medium scale and medium to high complexity that are high-quality, innovative, efficient, creative, scalable, adaptable, dynamic, fully performing and comply with all standards and best practices in support of business and Client outcomes and objectives
• Responsible for planning, day-to-day execution, management, implementation, and reporting when working on non-agile initiatives
• Change agent, supporting rollout of agile at Sun Life with focus on facilitating greater agility for their assigned team(s)/squad(s), coaching and building high performing team(s)/squad(s) and works to eliminate obstacles in delivering high quality technology solutions
• Works as a servant leader accountable for establishing and coaching squad(s) on Scrum practices and shares responsibility with their squad(s) for delivery of their assigned medium to large initiative, when working in an agile framework
• For moderate complexity work, can proactively identify, decompose, and remove impediments (both independently or with others) to ensure consistent velocity, predictability, and flow of work.
• Builds and expands relationships within their team(s)/squad(s), with their release train engineers, portfolio / product owners and other supporting teams in delivery of business value
• Responsible for managing all governance, reporting, and monitoring related activities as defined by the respective delivery framework being applied to work
• Bring transparency to Business, IT, and Operations about the team’s progress and Agile processes
• Proven ability to develop and manage detailed work plans, project schedules, estimates and resource plans
• Define and manage project risks and issues ensuring appropriate strategies and plans are in place to mitigate or handle effectively

What you need to succeed:

• 5 -10 years of progressive experience as a Scrum Master / Project Manager working in Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall environments
• 5+ years of experience with implementing medium to large range of technology/business projects; including core infrastructure (data analytics, data center, cloud computing <AWS, Azure>, mainframes, distributed server environments, web-hosting services, desktop, network, telephony, unified communication, security, etc).
• Experience managing projects which involve 3rd party managed services, offshoring and global projects.
• Solid understanding of data governance, data protection, privacy, and security best practices
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
• Kanban Management Professional (KMP) an asset
• Certified Project Management professional designation (PMP) an asset
• Software development background and knowledge of Data Analytics and Big Data principles is a plus

• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on relationship management and team building
• Ability to manage ambiguity effectively and help project team members work with ambiguity
• Effectively and concisely communicate project and technical information to provide comprehensive, concise recommendations to management
• Strong Influencing skills and the ability to manage difficult situations to resolution
• Strong facilitation skills to conduct successful meetings / ceremonies
• Ability to straddle between Agile and Waterfall Methodologies
• Strong working knowledge of MS Project, Office suite, Collaboration tools (Jira, SharePoint, ServiceNow, …)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
