What will you do?

• Provide ongoing support of mainframe technologies including responding to service requests, problem analysis, resolution, escalation and reporting as necessary
• Identify and participate in improvement, system renewal, stability, and upgrade projects
• Interface with developers, infrastructure teams, system designers, business system analysts, and testing specialists to deliver high quality solutions and maintain a stable environment
• Participate in various review processes to gain a solid understanding of the application and provide input into the various deliverables from a support perspective
• Provide coaching to development team and peers on tools, techniques, and processes
• Keep current with trends in emerging technologies and how they could apply to Sun Life
• Occasional weekend work in support of project implementations
• Participation in an on call rotation will be required

What will you need to succeed?

• University degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 3+ years Working knowledge of PL/I or COBOL development language, and JCL
• 2 + years of Experience with DevOps Environment tools
• 4+ years of experience with IBM z/OS mainframe environment
• 3 + years of Experience with IMS and DB2 databases
• Progressive IT experience with full development life cycle and systems integration experience

Preferred Skills:

• Excellent problem analysis and troubleshooting skills
• Strong leadership, planning, organizational and consulting skills
• Self-driven motivation to get results.
• Ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills

The nice to haves

• Knowledge of mainframe environment tools (IDZ, Zeke)
• Experience in financial and insurance industries

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
