SUMMARY

IT Business Solutions group, a team of dedicated IT consultants that oversee customer relationship management, business analysis, product and project management utilizing best-in-class software to support BGIS customers. Working directly with business partners and IT Solutions Delivery to manage and drive application enhancements while aligning with the direction of the Enterprise Project Management Office.

The Solutions Consultant I collaborates with business leads and subject matter experts to implement tactical software solutions. At this level, the incumbent implements and supports systems with fewer dependencies involving little or no financial component, lesser requirement for real time processing, less complex processes, and  lower risk to the organization

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Business Systems Analysis

  • Works with business leads, subject matter experts and multiple Solutions Consultants in the implementation of tactical software solutions.
  • Arranges and facilitates requirements discussions including interviewing SME’s, shadowing key end users, and collaborating with business leaders to define and document requirements for new solutions or enhancements to existing applications and reports.
  • Performs impact analysis of proposed solutions, assesses the impact of changes/enhancements to various accounts/users, understands variances in implementation by account, and identifies opportunities for standardization.
  • Understands and communicates technical and architectural complexities of a technical solution so that project stakeholders can easily understand.
  • Translate business requirements to IT specifications and communicates to the IT Solutions Delivery Team to obtain the necessary time and cost estimates (documentation, development, UA/QA testing, deployment, etc.) as well as any anticipated issues and risks.
  • Obtains business sponsor approvals on all business requirements and estimates, where applicable, prior to proceeding to the next stage in the project in accordance with IT process and audit requirements.
  • When assigned, assists with the development of high level plans for completion of Requirements and Acceptance phases of projects, improving in the level of detail and accuracy of estimates over time.
  • When assigned, contributes to the development and execution of testing, including creation of test cases, coordinating system and acceptance testing, reviewing defects arise during testing and works with stakeholders to resolve them.
  • Contributes/creates user guides, reference manuals/training materials as appropriate.
  • Contributes to the team knowledgebase with best practices, lessons learned, concepts and solutions documents.

Solutions Delivery

  • Works with multiple Solutions Consultants to gain a solid understanding of requirements and implement client specific solutions with emphasis on data analysis, extract, transform and load.
  • Completes assigned data loads to support specific client initiatives and new client transitions.  Performs data parsing and transformation as required to import data into our system while maintaining data integrity and quality.
  • Creates and updates ETL specification , define ETL logic and create supporting documentation.
  • When assigned, creates database views and performs minor modification in database packages.
  • When assigned, creates data extractions utilizing MS-Access or SQL Developer.
  • Creates and maintains implementation checklist.

Product Management

  • Serves as a knowledge expert in areas of focus from an IT product perspective.
  • Works with business leads and SME’s in the completion of Implementation Workbooks used for implementing new modules including analyzing client legacy systems/data for the purposes of migration to BGIS systems.
  • Conducts implementation of new modules and coordinates user acceptance testing and sign off prior to production implementation.
  • Works with business leads, SME’s and key end users to assist in defining new business processes which leverage existing or new RealSuite, Best of Breed Applications and Business Intelligence Applications functionality.
  • Researches industry/product trends and makes appropriate recommendations for tactical software enhancements that align with industry trends and clients evolving needs.
  • Performs analysis of reported production problems, determines impact and priority; and recommends corrective actions.
  • Provides direction and guidance as a Second Tier support resource to the Application Support team for products under the responsibility of the Solution Consultant

Customer Relationship Management

  • Participates in regular meetings with account leads and/or product line leads as an accountable technology partner to ensure that their implemented solutions continue to meet their business needs.
  • Manages a backlog of account- or product line-specific needs on behalf of business partners.
  • Represents account leads and/or product lines in IT-centric processes to ensure the business needs are raised and considered.

Project Coordination

  • Participates in the overall success of IT projects including but not limited to application development projects, business process development projects and new client implementations for core BGIS applications.
  • Contributes to the development of Project Proposal Forms and Project Charter for project management.
  • Establishes project milestones with key business leads and technologies team members.
  • Provides weekly status updates to senior management for relevant initiatives highlighting key deliverables, risks and areas requiring assistance/escalation.
  • Employs documentation best practices in all solutions documentation and applies established BGIS and IT processes to the management of all software and implementation projects (Change Management, Application Enhancement/Defect Process, etc.).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

 

Required:

  • University or college degree in a related discipline (Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Technology) or equivalent technical training (eg. CBAP, PMP, LEAN Six Sigma).
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant job experience.
  • Understanding of various SDLC project delivery methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile and ability to apply to the applicable portions of the Intake, Discovery, Execution and Stabilization phases.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills to lead group discussions and solid skills in eliciting business requirements from end-users, including experience with different techniques.
  • Excellent consulting and relationship management skills.
  • Strong verbal/written communication (English) and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in troubleshooting system and data issues.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Solid understanding of business processes and experience working with similar lines of business as provided by Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities, manage and/or prioritize simultaneous tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation/conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts and SQL queries.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of
    • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    • MS Access
    • Visual Studio
    • SQL Developer
  • Quick learner and self-starter with demonstrated ability to learn new and exciting technologies with minimal assistance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team to excel in a dynamic environment.

Experience on the following is desired:

  • Microsoft and/or Oracle Database Technologies, SQL, PLSQL and relational databases
  • Experience with ETL tools and procedures
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Experience with reading and writing SQL and develop automated scripts
  • Experience or knowledge of programming and scripting language
  • Experience with Facilities Management / Real Estate software applications such as: IWMS (Archibus, Tririga, Accruent, Serraview), CMMS (Maximo, Angus), Real Estate (Yardi, Argus)
