Introduction
As an IBM Application Architect, you directly help clients transform their business  and solve complex problems. You will define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of IBM platforms.  You are a technical leader, serving as a liaison among business partners, technical resources, and project stakeholders.

Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Global Business Services helps top-tier clients solve their most complex business and technical issues. As a Maximo Solution Architect, the candidate will lead and contribute to the design and delivery of end-to-end solutions based on the Maximo Application suite. Knowledge and experience developing solutions involving Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and middleware technologies for the integration of Maximo to various third-party applications, including ERP solutions, sets you apart from your peers.

In this role, the incumbent designs solutions involving the Maximo application suite to automate business processes and meet business needs.

The resulting design may run on multiple platforms, including various cloud environments, and maybe integrated into multiple software packages and custom components. This role utilizes best practices in the critical evaluation, selection, design and development of the software components necessary to implement strategic business solutions for clients in various industries.

Applications Architects are responsible for applications-related quality, performance, availability, scalability, and integrity. They are also responsible for the functional interface to applications and for ensuring application usability. The architect interfaces with the client ensuring the client get maximum value from their Maximo implementation.

Specific tasks include working with IBM clients to:
  • Gather and effectively translate business requirements (e.g., business case, requirement specifications, non-functional requirement specifications & use case models specific to the Maximo solution) into technical solutions.
  • Conduct gap analysis.
  • Develop solution architecture and work with client IT and business teams to build consensus.
  • Create macro & micro designs working with IBM and client development teams.
  • Develop application framework and establish foundation and standards for code development.
  • Lead development team members to develop, test and deploy application components.
  • Lead Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request For Information (RFI) response development.
  • Develop sizing estimates and project plans.
  • Lead and manage technical design teams
  • Lead delivery work streams at client locations.
  • Support and mentor other technical team members.
  • Familiarity with multiple operating system platforms, application frameworks and tools would be a definite asset.
Candidate must have:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) database programming.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of software implementation methodologies from waterfall to hybrid-agile and pure Agile.
  • Must have MIF (Maximo Integration Framework) experience
  • ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) experience.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 10 years experience in Maximo Solution Design and development
  • Knowledge of System Architectures and the impacts on solution design
  • Significant experience in Maximo configuration (Workflow, Application Designer, Conditional User Interface (UI), Data Design, Integration design and development).
  • At least 5 years leading technical teams implementing Maximo solutions in various industries
  • English: Fluent

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 12 years experience in Maximo Solution Design and development
  • Knowledge of System Architectures and the impacts on solution design
  • Ability to explain technical solutions in business terms
  • Significant experience in Maximo configuration (Workflow, Application Designer, Conditional User Interface (UI), Data Design, Integration design and development).
  • At least 5 years leading technical teams implementing Maximo solutions in various industries
  • English: Fluent


Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
