Job Description:

The Agile Delivery Lead acts as the “chief of staff” within the scaled agile operating model. The role is focused on optimizing the flow of value by ensuring consistent alignment to processes across a multi-team model. The role requires an ability to support, manage, and improve daily operations of the Platform and associated teams. As an Agile Delivery Lead, you will work with a cross-functional leadership team to define and measure objectives, drive standardization of delivery practices across related teams and coordinate and facilitate scaled agile events related to prep, planning, monitoring and issue resolution (e.g. system demos, quarterly platform reviews, quarterly increment planning, etc.). In this role you will also act as a thought partner, as well as championing the removal of impediments.

Responsibilities:

  • Enable effective “day-to-day” of scaled environment (e.g., scaled agile events, platform delivery reporting, etc.)
  • Drive integration, alignment and continuity of delivery across value streams
  • Help solve organizational problems and facilitate problem-solving sessions
  • Proactively identify and raise relevant issues for Executive sponsor support
  • Triage incoming needs and questions to the teams and support the management of internal and external dependencies
  • Own tracking and reporting on objectives & key results, financials, etc. for Executive audiences
  • Help to develop & manage portfolio of large, complex deliverables following agile ways of working
  • Track & report on resources & gaps
  • Support preparation and own content for key scaled agile workshops & events (e.g., sponsor meetings)

Key Skills

  • Experience in scaled agile delivery preferred
  • Experience leading or shaping large transformational efforts preferred
  • Broad network and ability to influence across the organization is critical
  • Experience in or excited to learn Agile way of working
  • Experience in working within a team-of-teams-of-teams structure preferred
  • Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP), Certified Scrum Coach (CSC), Scrum Alliance Scrum Master or Kanban Management Professional (KPM) an asset
  • Participates in Agile/Kanban communities of practice
  • Experienced in scaled Agile environments (e.g. SAFe, SoS)
  • Ownership mindset and track record of getting stuff done; pragmatic and calm under pressure
  • Ability to draw connections between work streams, recognize oncoming impediments and clear the path forward proactively before they become blockers
  • Ability to both grasp big picture and have rigorous attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate complex and sensitive messages at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders – strong leadership skills
  • Strong problem solver with ability to lead the team to push the solution and quickly structure and break down problems
  • Strong coaching skill set with considerable experience in coaching large teams with various profiles
  • Maintain complete documentation to ensure team processes run smoothly
  • Define and maintain scaled agile metrics and measurements of delivery (e.g. velocity, work in progress, etc.)
  • Critical thinker and passion to challenge status quo to find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas - embraces change
  • Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency and trust across all teams
  • Not afraid to “roll up the sleeves” and seeks to go outside comfort zone to learn
  • Experimental mindset to drive innovation and continuous improvement of team

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
