We are looking for an individual who is excited to learn more about both current and evolving data and analytics technologies. In this role, you will act as a champion for the Data and Analytics technology platform, providing expertise to enable, operationalize and mature core and key technical capabilities for the enterprise.
 

You will use your expertise to:
 

  • Design, implement and operationalize data and analytics platform capabilities, in support of Suncor’s digital transformation
  • Provide solution design recommendations for the enablement of new capabilities and maturing of existing capabilities
  • Provide operational support and sustainment activities for all platform capabilities, in support of key stakeholders through both Product Model and Platform as a Service (PaaS)
  • Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed design and participate in the build of prototyping those designs into solutions in an agile environment
  • Work closely with technical teams to facilitate, design and produce technical deliverables
  • Identify and manage technical constraints, risks and mitigations throughout the implementation of the products and services
  • Collaborate effectively with diverse cross functional teams to ensure requirements, deliverables and support Service Level Agreements are delivered with quality and in a timely manner
  • <span 72="">Collaborate with Information Technology partners to assess and establish the required pipeline to support business objectives; identify opportunities to streamline delivery processes

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
 

  • A Bachelor’s degree or a technical diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related field
  • Four or more years of experience in big data infrastructure, solution architecture or IT operations
  • Experience with data and analytics, end to end, data processing (ingestion to consumption) and data management lifecycle (creation to disposition)
  • Experience supporting and/or operating data and analytics services and capabilities (technology and infrastructure)
  • Excellent grasp of cloud fundamentals and solutioning around PaaS
  • Proven ability to learn and adopt new technologies in a fast-evolving environment
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills to enable the development of high value, fit for purpose data solutions
  • Ability to communicate and present technical information to diverse groups as well as senior leaders
  • A collaborative, self-starter attitude, with an ability to multi-task and make critical decisions in a timely fashion under little supervision

Preference for:
 

  • Experience in DevOps and DataOps principles and tools
  • Data and/or Cyber security experience
  • Experience in data solution architecture
  • Experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions
  • Experience in Metadata Management and Data Classification
  • Experience in Master Data Management and Data Quality
  • Experience in enterprise-wide applications (preference for SAP), API, middleware/web services (preference for Mulesoft and Kafka) and databases
  • Data governance experience
  • Experience working in a delivery focused consulting capacity
  • Azure certification
     

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:
 

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
