KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Varied and moderately complex work involving the repair, fabrication and assembly of components for the production of wooden or plastic products such as (but not limited to) window frames, doors, ladders, furniture/fixtures, benches, shelving, frames, jigs, templates etc.
  • Selecting materials, and setting-up, adjusting and operating of a variety of woodworking machinery such as (but not limited to lathes, saws, boring machines, planers, shapers, jointer etc.
  • Assembly and reassembly and final finish of wooden/plastic products
  • Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Helps to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC's policies.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Training normally obtained through completion of Grade 12, technical program, or its recognized equivalent as defined by the TTC’s Operations Training Centre Department
  • Trade subjects in blueprint reading, drafting and mathematics
  • Approximately 3-years of extensive experience in a related woodworking machine shop environment where equipment such as lathes, planers, shapers, jointers, saws, etc. are used to produce wooden/plastic products
  • Must pass a practical test set and supervised by the Operations Group

 

Note: Must provide a set of hand tools as per the established tool list.
