Your Opportunity

We are seeking a professional and dynamic Junior CAD Technician to join our Community Development group in Markham, ON.

The successful candidate will coordinate project drawings with Project Managers, CAD staff and others; ensure project needs are met in a timely and effective manner; liaise with drafting coordinators supporting other disciplines,; participate in design and preparation of engineering drawings using the appropriate internal and external standards; prepare plan, section, detail, schematic and construction drawings; and ensure all drawings are in accordance with client specific requirements and company procedures. You are required to be proficient with Building Information Modeling Software (Revit), AutoCAD Civil 3D. Experience with Plant 3D would be an asset.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing engineering drawings for water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure projects
  • Preparing presentation graphics
  • Coordinating projects between Project Managers, CAD staff and others
  • Preparing Report figures (drawings)
  • Undertaking resident or part time review services under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Technologist

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • BIM Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Plant 3D experience
  • You possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities and a willingness to work in a team atmosphere
  • You are highly organized, and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments. In addition, previous experience in a computerized office environment using Microsoft Office and other Windows based applications would be considered an asset
  • Experience in reading and interpreting construction and legal drawings
  • Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments
  • Experience and a willingness to undertake resident and part time construction review is also required
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s Permit and your own vehicle are required for this position

Education and Experience

Diploma in Architectural Technology, or Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technology, or Civil Engineering Technology. 1 – 3 years’ experience preferred

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
