Job Description:

This role is a key contributor in the Corporate Finance team responsible for supporting Sun Life’s statutory and global accounting and regulatory reporting functions under IFRS 17 and IFRS 9. The incumbent will support the design and implementation of a best-in-class process to centralize and integrate the data collection function across Corporate Finance teams, using existing tools (SAP, Longview, Workiva etc.) and automated workflow capabilities to achieve that outcome. The incumbent may also be required to assist in executing the monthly and quarterly financial close processes, assisting in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and other related functions as needed

Responsibilities

• Support the design, build and implementation of a technology-driven, data collection and integration process, applying the principle of “collect once, use many times” to minimize duplication and satisfy a wide range of users across reporting and analysis functions within Corporate Finance

• Liaise with key stakeholders across Corporate Finance to understand key reporting deliverables, both internal and external, under IFRS 17 and IFRS 9

• Partner with technical, accounting and business teams to lead design and execute development and automation of internal and external reports and controls using multiple reporting tools, techniques, and sources of data; project manage and ensure timely delivery within a very tight timeline         

• Assist in the global consolidation process for all subsidiaries in a multi-currency environment and prepare consolidated reporting and deliverables under IFRS 17 using SAP S/4HANA and IFRS 4 in Oracle in dual reporting year 2022

• Identify and execute process improvement initiatives in collaboration with cross-team stakeholders to drive operational efficiencies, building upon a culture of continuous improvement

• Contribute to strategic ad-hoc projects across Corporate Finance, including our adoption of IFRS 17, IFRS 9, and the implementation of new reporting processes and controls

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting

• Accounting designation CPA, CA, CMA or CGA or equivalent

• 4+ years of relevant experience in either public accounting or large, multinational organizations, preferably in the insurance industry

Preferred skills

• Ability to visualize, organize and manage large volumes of data

• Collaborative experience with technical, accounting and business teams at all levels, with the ability to communicate with purpose

• Demonstrated experience in designing and developing reporting solutions and automations

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA (including Fiori and Analysis for Office) and Aptitude Accounting Hub is an advantage

• Experience with Oracle general ledger, Tableau, Workiva wDesk and Longview is an advantage  

Please Note: This is an 18 month long contract role that includes salary and benefits, you will be on Sun Life payroll.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
