Purpose

 

Contributes to the overall success of Business Human Resources activities ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. The Manager, Strategic Support is responsible for supporting strategic talent needs and delivery of HR strategic plans

and initiatives for Canadian Banking and Global Wealth Management. The Manager acts as a point of contact for all Communities of Expertise (CoEs) and HR Services in service of implementing core bank programs and initiatives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and

procedures.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Provides support to HRBPs across CB and GWM in the execution of people strategies and HR programming, ensuring consistency, efficiency and effectiveness across teams.
  • Acts as a point of contact for all Communities of Expertise (CoEs) in service of implementing core bank programs and initiatives.  Provides input and feedback on program / policy design to COE partners and provides recommendations on program execution.
  • Participates and represents CB and GWM HR in various forums.  Works closely with Strategic Support partners across Business HR to share approaches and identify best practices. 
  • Facilitates local HR regulatory compliance needs with HR Services.  Collaborates with HR Services to deploy services that are required to be executed in the areas of development & training, recruitment & onboarding, performance and compensation reviews. 
  • Works closely with the Business HR Insights and Initiatives team to proactively utilize a wide range of HR data to identify themes/trends that are relevant to CB and GWM people strategies and facilitates the collection and monitoring of related metrics and KPIs.
  • Contributes to an inclusive culture and engaged workforce within CB GWM HR by promoting and managing various collaboration tools.  Facilitates planning and preparation for internal team meetings and social activities, ensuring capture and follow-up of key action items. 
  • Advocates and champions the HR operating model within the business.  Proactively contributes to the transformation of the HR operating model, with the aim of creating a globally integrated function that is scalable, flexible, and efficient.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Education/Experience Required:

 

  • 3-5 years of relevant HR or strategic initiatives experience.
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably with focus on business/human resources or work-related experience.
  • CHRP, CHRL or other HR designation, or in progress is an asset.
  • Strong communications skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.  Ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.  Able to collaborate with HR stakeholders and business partners and coach managers.  Actively listens and seeks to understand needs with genuine curiosity.
  • Ability to influence and persuade leaders and partners.
  • Identifies solutions through effective questioning.
  • Strong problem solving, conflict management, negotiation skills.
  • Results oriented and strong ability to effectively perform in a complex, high change / fast-paced environment while being a positive steward for the global HR team.
  • Strong strategic capabilities to assess issues and their potential impact on the Bank’s image and reputation.
  • Excellent project management skills to oversee execution of complex communications strategies.
  • Ability to build strong cross-cultural and cross-divisional team relationships.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding to allow appropriate partnership with client groups. 
  • Understands how data relates to actions and results for an individual person or team
