The Project Lead role is a temporary position that supports Sheridan’s Project Springboard initiative. Project Springboard is a pan-institutional technological transformation initiative launched in response to the 2020-24 Sheridan Strategic Plan. The Springboard Portfolio Management Office (PMO) involves the management of over fifty (50) projects, divided among four (4) portfolios that are essential to the success of advancing Sheridan’s digital transformation. The Project Lead is accountable for leading the project delivery for multiple projects under any of the 4 portfolios and is the primary IT coordinator/facilitator for each project. This position is to accommodate the current demand of projects created under Springboard to achieve the goals set by the 2024 strategic initiatives.


What You’ll be Doing

  • Delivering technology aspects of projects.
  • Meeting with Sheridan PMO to intake project requests and to ensure proper information is recorded on the project request form, business case, charter.
  • Assisting with Workfront Coordination for PMO to effectively prioritize and score projects.
  • Setting project/implementation standards and constraints within the boundaries of College policies and IT-PMO standards.
  • Creating and managing the project schedule, scope, costs, status and resourcing.
  • Managing the milestones within the project including planning, execution, integration, cutover and closure. 
  • Organizing integration testing (SIT) and help with preparation for UAT.
  • Communicating within the project team capturing, analyzing and facilitating decision making and managing the RAID log.  
  • Collaborating with the Business Lead and other team members to manage issues and decisions in a timely manner.
  • Leading Integration solutions with other Sheridan technology, analysing requirements and specifications, in the context of existing systems, security and data privacy requirements, identifying, documenting the impact and advising IT-PMO of steps needed to integrate.
  • Other projects and initiatives as needed.

You have a Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deal with aggressive timelines and the associated pressure. 

Your communications skills allow you to network across business teams to build trust and collaborative working relationships. You have the ability to interact with staff at all levels including senior leaders. 

You are able to work with both technical and non-technical users and can negotiated deadlines, manage expectations and provide alternate solutions where necessary. 

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications: 

  • A 3-year diploma/degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field along with 8 years experience which includes the following: (Equivalency will be considered)
  • Mapping processes and performing present state, future state and gap analysis used for business performance improvement
  • Conducting various Project meetings as needed and facilitating discussions with the leadership team. 
  • Project charter development
  • Structured systems design and development experience 
  • Assist with technical requirements gathering/documentation
