POSITION SUMMARY

The Security & Emergency Services Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to ensure the effective delivery of a wide variety of services and programs that relate to the safety, security, and emergency preparedness of staff, housing developments, and tenants across the province. He/she/they supports the Security & Emergency Services (SES) department with the organization of expenses and purchases, distribution and tracking of emergency equipment, maintenance of information records in safety related systems, and general operational support.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The successful candidate will have the following:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Secondary school graduation plus completion of post-secondary courses in office or business administration from a recognized educational institution.
  • Minimum of three years experience related to office administration.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience suitable to the employer.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Sound practical knowledge of the rules, practices and procedures of office and program administration
  • Sound knowledge of accounting processes
  • Sound proficiency in standard word processing, database, and other relevant applications
  • Some knowledge of the Commission’s safety, security, and emergency preparedness programs for its housing developments
  • Some knowledge of incident command systems, building damage assessment, emergency management, business continuity planning, building security, video surveillance, and/or emergency lodging
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, and contribute and co-operate in a team environment
  • Ability to apply regulations and follow established guidelines
  • Ability to work under pressure during emergency situations
