Description de poste:

Role Summary

This technical role is responsible for contributing to enterprise date architecture initiatives and programs that support business priorities and technical roadmap. This includes providing enterprise data architecture solutions and technical direction to Data teams in order to support and enhance ML/ AI and data analytics capabilities.

In this role you will design and create technical data models and schemas for advanced data architectures such as Data Fabric & Mesh on cloud. This is an innovation opportunity to gain experience with AI and ML initiatives on cloud for voice and text data. The position can be located at the Sun Life office in Downtown Toronto, North York or Waterloo, depending on where a suitable candidate is found.

What Will You Do?

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Data Architecture, you will work closely with the team of Enterprise Architects (across domains and platforms) and Data and Analytics Team who interact closely with the business in understanding business needs and architecting solution options. The role also interacts very closely with Data organizations across enterprise, where a team of individuals focus on the delivery of client centric business solutions.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Creates blueprints for data management systems to integrate, protect and maintain data patterns. Design concepts to make the flow of data in company as efficient as possible
  • Develop data models and schema designs to support platform / projects requirement. Supervise other architects use of tools and technologies.  
  • Scope the types of data management frameworks to be used.
  • Implement a data catalog of enterprise data assets and characteristics  
  • Develop a reference architecture that includes data domain specs
  • Specify data access methods and architects data services
  • Ensure compliance with data quality and protection policies
  • Work towards development both cloud and on premise, and Roadmap for i) Information Management ii) Advanced Analytics (Machine Intelligence) and Business Intelligence, and iii) Reporting domain at Sun Life. This includes the active management of understanding new and emerging technologies within the domains, and the active sunsetting of obsolete products.
  • Support Data and Analytics center in translating strategic requirements into usable enterprise data architectures.
  • Develop a metamodel management and repository strategy to manage all enterprise data architecture artifacts.
  • Identify data workload drivers for the selection between cloud and on premise, based on factors such as latency, consumption patterns and others for systems of record, engagement, and insight.
  • Develop, communicate, and support the implementation of corporate policies, standards, and procedures that provide effective architecture, governance, and management of Sun Life’s information/data assets.
  • Ensure projects are following best practice data architectures for delivery by the Data Engineering team.
  • Ensure the enterprise information architecture alignment to the overall enterprise architecture strategies.
  • Develop and maintain effective and efficient information management, business intelligence, and data analytics ownership awareness and training programs.

What will be needed to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related area.
  • 6+ years experience in a large IT organization, within a minimum of 10 years in Information Management, Business Intelligence, and Data Analytics.
  • 5+ years experience architecting and implementing solutions involving information management, business intelligence, and data analytics in a large financial organization, or a large regulatory organization
  • Exposure to modern data architecture and knowledge of modern databases (RDBMS, No SQL, Graph, etc.)
  • Strong ability to balance a wide variety of trade-offs and drivers across the multiple skill areas contributing to, and impacting by, data architecture decisioning.
  • Knowledge in the architecture and design of information management architectures, business intelligence frameworks, and data analytics patterns that enable a well integrated, transactional, collaborative, and agile suite of systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud services - preferrably Amazon (AWS), including S3, Redshift, Sagemaker, Cloud formation and the various data and database formats available in cloud solutions such as Athena. Experience with other major cloud platforms can be considered.
  • Modeling experience within a large enterprise, within information management, business intelligence, and data analytics.
  • Understanding of common patterns, frameworks, and reference architectures for information management, business intelligence, and data analytics.
  • In depth knowledge of MDM through its initial setup, implementation, and execution, aligning to business use cases.
