PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

As a leader on the Innovation and Business Transformation team, you will be responsible to enable effective program delivery to achieve CP’s roadmap objectives. The specialist is an expert in understanding current business process, facilitating future state development, analyzing gaps, costs, benefits, and process performance. The position ensures appropriate governance is applied over system/process changes that span multiple business units/functional areas.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide guidance, recommendations, and project support in the asset lifecycle journey (acquire to dispose) and the financial transaction journey (record to report);
  • Provide process improvement expertise and knowledge to colleagues through one-on-one support, team support and may train employees in their area of expertise; 
  • Provide first line of support to their business and functional areas on more advanced process analysis and improvement items;
  • Provide expertise to and lead process design for project implementation teams;
  • Review and provide recommendations on computer code, system logic, technical specifications, and database queries as required;
  • Support business process re-engineering efforts ensuring business readiness for new/enhanced work tools;
  • Provide a bridge between business and IT for measurements of performance, gap analysis, and future benefits for programs and enhancements;
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement through process mining;
  • Support user acceptance testing;
  • Audit and reinforce proper utilization of new processes, procedures, and systems.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in Operations Research, Business, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science or equivalent experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in the asset lifecycle journey and the financial transaction journey through to reporting;
  • 2+ years of organizational change management experience (formal certification an asset);
  • 3+ years of project management experience (formal certification an asset);
  • 4+ years of business analysis experience (formal certification an asset);
  • Experience in design thinking or process mining is an asset;
  • A solid understanding of SAP products and standards;
  • Strong written and oral skills;
  • Strong problem solving, organizational and project planning skills;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Ability to manage conflict and conflicting stakeholder interests;
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to handle ambiguity;
  • Ability to influence up to VP level.

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CP. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
