In this position, you will support compliance supervisors in branches across Canada to help them answer questions related to the application of regulations, policies and procedures and to process approval requests.

Being a Compliance Advisor means investing in the implementation of effective solutions, new working methods to embody and better communicate our primary mission, which is risk management.

Your role

  • Act as the contact person for the various compliance supervisors and internal partners (business line, operations, etc.) and respond to various requests related to risk management by providing relevant and quality information
  • Perform approval of compliance activities, including advertising, external activities and all other activities as required by policies, procedures and regulations
  • Approve documentation, new accounts and updates to client files, while ensuring compliance
  • Collaborate with partners from different teams to find solutions to complex scenarios
  • Support, as needed, the Legal or Internal Investigations team in responding to regulatory needs and requests
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of new systems and work processes and ensure the maintenance of technological tools and act as a change agent by promoting their adoption
  • Collaborate on projects that contribute to improving team efficiency and information sharing
  • Assist in the conceptualization and writing of training materials

This position reports to the Director, Compliance - Business Conduct.  This is a temporary position of 12 months that could be extended beyond the 12 months depending on the evolution of the team. Responsabilities may also evolve over the course of the position's mandate and talent mobility is highly encouraged within National Bank.

Competencies required

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a related field (Law, Economics) and 2 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Analytical ability with a strong solution orientation
  • A good sense of risk management and monitoring
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to provide advice to internal partners
  • Mastery of computer and collaboration tools (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Bilingualism (spoken/written) French and English

Preferred competencies

  • Capacity to work under pressure
  • A team player and a collaborator
  • Successful completion of relevant courses, including: Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Standards of Conduct Handbook and Branch Manager course

This position will allow you to apply your knowledge of the securities industry while constantly learning given the broad scope of activities in the sectors served.
