Your Opportunity

The role of a Project Engineer with our Municipal Services Team in Thunder Bay is a dynamic position well suited to an individual who is good at managing multiple tasks and deadlines and working with multi-disciplinary teams across multiple offices. The candidate may be working independently on smaller projects or providing support to a team of professionals on larger projects. Our group is involved in a wide range of municipal civil infrastructure projects including roads, water, wastewater and stormwater management.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering studies and design reports for municipal infrastructure for capital improvement and land development projects
  • Project management including: client liaison; managing budgets and financial performance
  • Construction contract administration
  • Prepare contract documents for construction (i.e. engineering drawings and specifications)
  • Understand and implement industry standards and manuals as well as client and regulatory agencies standards and requirements
  • Stay up to date on regulatory changes and establish good relationships with regulatory officials
  • Mentor junior members of the Team
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • The ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, manage deadlines and have exceptional organization skills
  • Experience designing municipal civil infrastructure, including but not limited to roads, water, wastewater, stormwater and site grading
  • Experience preparing functional site servicing and stormwater management plans
  • Experience with water & wastewater treatment processes
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports and proposals
  • Contract Administration skills, preference give to those with OPSS knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D, PCSWMM, StormCAD, WaterCAD and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills along with exceptional time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting, legislation, and regulations
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team

Education and Experience

  • A Civil Engineering degree from a recognized university. At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.

Typical office environment working with computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
