Job Description:

The Manager, Social Media Performance & Audience Strategy is part of the Canadian Content Marketing & Social Media Team at Sun Life. As owner of the social and content dashboards, the incumbent requires analytical experience to measure the effectiveness of channels by understanding, utilizing and championing analytics tools to evaluate against set KPIs, ensuring our content and social strategies are successful and resonate with the intended audiences. This role will be charged with expanding Sun Life’s social presence, audience and reach, championing trends and opportunities to drive decision-making. They will also organize the day-to-day management of the content planning process, managing a robust content calendar across our website, email and social media platforms.   

What will you do?

  • Work with the Director to build a social media and content strategy through research, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification
  • Provide regular updates of relevant metrics (traffic, demographics, engagement, effectiveness, sentiment) to drive decision-making especially for demand generation campaigns through social
  • Leverage analytics and consumer insights to drive investment prioritization and improving the user experience on our owned channels
  • Maintain understanding of competitive landscape to ensure strategies are industry leading
  • Utilize an ongoing “test and learn” strategy with a mind to scale digital content marketing initiatives nationally if effective
  • Champion the Centre of Excellence model for social and content where expertise and learnings are shared across the global organization
  • Create measurement frameworks to evaluate the effectiveness of content and social marketing initiatives to communicate performance and ROI
  • Work closely with multiple teams on the planning, execution and reporting of marketing activities (including cross-domain analytics) across various digital channels and oversee governance activities on pixel tracking and nomenclature tagging across Sun Life brands

What do you need to succeed ?

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with proven ability to collaborate and influence across multiple levels of an organization and with external partners
  • Strong analytical abilities with proven ability to translate data analysis into recommendations
  • Understanding of digital marketing tracking, pixels, optimization and measurement
  • Experience with analytics tools native to social media platforms, as well as Adobe Analytics, and Microsoft Excel (advanced)
  • A deep understanding of the social media landscape including platforms (existing and emerging), algorithms, challenges and opportunities
  • Experience with data on-boarders and/or DMPs (Liveramp, AAM/AEP)
  • Digital media strategy, planning and buying experience; in-platform experience a plus (Google platforms, Meta, Amazon, Yahoo)
  • Deep understanding of major social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, WeChat and Facebook, and working knowledge of other large or emerging platforms such as TikTok.

What will be nice to have?

  • University or College Degree in business, marketing, journalism, communications or public relations
  • Certification in Digital Analytics or Adobe Analytics considered preferred
  • Ability to speak and write in French is preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive related experience in one or more of the following areas: social marketing, digital marketing, website merchandising, search marketing, mobile marketing, or digital campaign management

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
