Job Description:

The Sun Life Data & Analytics organization provides information management services including Data Architecture and Engineering, Data Enablement, Data Integration, CoE capabilities in Cloud solutions, Big Data and Data Science, and enabling analytics reporting and visualization capabilities across the enterprise.

The Support Engineer is on the AWS Operation Support team, which is responsible for supporting production applications on the Amazon Web Services Data & Analytics platform.    

What will you do?

  • Maintain and support end-to-end applications for the AWS Data & Analytics platform
  • Ensure appropriate prioritization and resolution of defects in accordance with agreed upon SLA
  • Ensure compliance with incident, problem and change management policies and processes
  • Provide technical documentation that includes design and operational support documentation
  • Work collaboratively with Project Teams, Operation teams and vendors to schedule implementation of changes to meet overall schedule of the project and mitigate risk of customer experience impacts due to changes
  • Monitor, identify and implement operational improvements
  • Develop an understanding of the business applications supported as well as the business direction
  • Participate in rotational on-call operational support, including after hours support

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience with Big Data solutions preferably using Amazon Web Services or equivalent Public Cloud.   For example:
  • Experience with AWS Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Sagemaker and Python/R
  • Experience using Hive, SQL, EMR and S3
  • Experience with DevOps tools
  • Experience with ETL Tools
  • Strong communication, problem solving, troubleshooting and organizational skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services environment
  • Experience working in Financial Services

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
